I enjoyed watching the WIP, especially when you played around with the coins in Bowser's level. One thing I noticed was the foot race star, is it the fastest star you could have gotten? I admit, I didnt look too hard in this thread to see if it was mentioned in another message, but waiting for that turtle to show up was time consuming (although you DID find good ways to keep the viewer entertained). Aside from that, I noticed nothing that would need further attention. Good work!

He is doing a coinless / cannonless / capless run so he has to get it.

But would the star-in-a-cage...star... or the penguin slide race be any faster? Or is he doing a "any star that normally requires a cannon to get won't be collected" type of thing?

He is getting all stars in the entire game that don't require the collection of coins, use of caps, or use of cannons.

Ooooh... talk about feeling stupid... well, then, disregard my comment mr_roberts_z and good work thus far! (Thanks for the info, AQwertyZ ;) )

nice WIP, I especially liked how mario looked at bob-omb king, how you did the owl cage star in WF, and the KTQ race was very funny (one of the best stars in this movie, IMO). I have only one complaint: when you grab a star, try to do it at the lowest height possible (touch it barely with the top of the head), so you reach the floor sooner.

Thanks for the feed, guys. I have a question...assuming the rest of the run would be similar to that WIP, would anyone still support the run? It's pretty clear that there definitely aren't as many new routes as was expected. I could make wildly different routes, but they'd all be a lot slower than the fastest known ones that I'm using. I'll finish the run no matter what, but I'd just like to know if it still has the same chances of being published as it did when it was first suggested.

Personally, I would still support it... to me, no coins is one helluva challenge and it will amaze me no matter what! XD So yes, full support from this forum crawler.

I support this run for the routes you don't see in the other 2 sm64 categories like the island in the sky done with BLJ, or the first bowser done without getting 8 red coins. Keep it up :)

Of course I would love to see this run completed, since there's going to be a lot of extra small movements that will make a large difference in the end. I'd love to see exactly how you do some of the harder stars, and I'm glad to see you're still getting it done. Quick questions though: Why didn't you BLJ into the princess slide or into WF? I don't remember that you have to get coins doing that, and it's faster than seeing the star animation.

You automaticly take the two coins on the pillars above if you do that.

Any time he does something that you might find strange or unoptimized he is probably avoiding coins.

I'd support it but I can predict a lot of random no votes (some from people who didn't even watch and just don't like the idea.) It should get published if it's good though.

Hey, I had a thought. You know those checkered platforms on the first and last Bowser levels? I think they could be used as BLJ points. If they were used, it would mean grabbing another star somewhere else, because the 1st Bowser level won't have its star collected. It's definitely worth trying.

Do you mean the rotating platforms or the area where you need to press the switch in order to get the stairs? If you mean the latter then its impossible becuase its a slidey slope, the rotating ones should be possible although I'm not sure if you be able to rev enough blj's or have enough control around the tight areas.

I don't think you can get enough BLJs off those platforms. And even then, the bowser 1 star doesn't take that much extra time anyway.

I tested it out anyway to see if it had any use and sadly the answer is no, the area is simply too tight to steer round, and I had to use the bridge to get an extra couple of BLJs but it not possible to use normally becuase Mario doesn't go backwards fast enough, overall I managed to get 13 bljs in the video I only used 10, but I did manage to get a slight better result with 11 after I made this video. Although I might reccomed to R_Z that it might be a good entertainment trade off to his CCC run. http://files.filefront.com/BLJavi/;7493406;/fileinfo.html

In the CCC run, B1 is long over, but I'll try it out in B3 and attempt it in the Coin run. It's a nice idea, though.

I think it might be doable with the platforms at different areas, or something like that... Or maybe actually getting on the fulcrum of the platforms and BLJing! EDIT: Having watched the video now... Damn. I think it's plenty possible in at least one of the 2. Time for a new TAS! I think we could break the 15 minute mark with this. I still believe enough control is possible in the level you demonstrated. But I wonder which is faster, doing the trick and getting the missing star in LLL (Red Hot Log Rolling) or not doing the trick for the star. Is it possible to stop Mario somehow? Like, if he hits a wall for example.

I doubt any star from a course would make up enough time to overcome seeing the world entry and coin-tallying sequences an extra time; the deteurs for the red coin star add up to at most 15 seconds, and the extra world entry and exit take up 12 of those. Something else occured to me. The Big House in the Sky star passes a number of coins on its route, and so instead of doing a playaround period it might be worth it to use that time to collect coins. I think that maybe 30 coins could be collected while the carpet was moving, and the blue and red coins would be collected on the way up.

Nice find, Rikku. This should definitely be used in the CCC run. Also I think it's debatable to use this star instead of Hot-foot now in the 16-star.

It could've. *slams head against table*

Almost definitely; the platform where Mario triple jumped is almost ridiculously close to the start of the level and could be probably made in four LJs.

Don't you think it's faster than using the wing cap as well?
