I'm not going to get into the mk64 vs. f-zero debate... but do know that it's slightly insulting to, in a thread I made geared towards showing someone else's f-zero work, to bash my progress with mk64 by saying it's inferior to this game. Anyways, White Land 2 is done (youtube on the way).

Why choose between games, when you can have both? i like them both. Edit: By the way, this thread is about F-Zero X, not MK64, so make a new thread about MK64 if you have something to say about that game. *watches new movie* Whaaaaaaaaaaat????

This run gets my seal of approval.

We already have a Mario Kart 64 thread :-P I just haven't had the time to work on Moo Moo Farm for a while. That should change though.

This could be a powerful boost to TAS support - not just the notoriety of the person, but people creating TAS videos and then using that information to make more refined regular speedruns. ...just a thought.

Goddamn, that's more impressive than the first run! On another note, that's one of the first videos I've seen on this site I can edit. I vote for all videos to be encoded as .mpg from now on.

I vote for you to stop complaining and learn how to edit videos encoded with real codecs. kthxbai.

Wow... I had no idea you could go that fast in F-Zero X. Also, if you're going to compare this to SMK64, at least wait until the Rainbow Road track has been done in both of them.

Interesting, but it's several seconds slower than the current run going forwards. In games like Super Mario Bros, you can fool around and go backwards because it doesn't impact the speed at all.

Of course it is slower. He just pressed the A button (acceleration) for about one second at the beginning of the race ;) .

That's some shortcut. I especially liked the result of crossing the finish line at such a high speed...

Many of the F-Zero X WR videos end with such aerial doom, hehe...

F-Zero X being my favorite N64 game, this is already one of my favorite TASes. I never really even tried doing any of the special techniques, but to see them done so perfectly is beautiful. Go JKT! Edit for substance: I'm wondering, in that Fire Field video it seems like it very nearly goes off the edge. I wonder if it would be possible, if optimized, to plunge to your doom in that course as well.

Wow, I had no idea you could do that. I used to play this game - in fact, I've hit 3000 km/hr without leaving the ground until after max speed. Sadly, I suffered the same fate as the video before I crossed the finish line. What's the glitch he's using to accelerate so quickly in the air? Does it have something to do with turning upside down?

firstly, you must float up to have enough room and lose a lot of speed and have the nose pointing kind of upwards. You launch in the air, and angle yourself sort of at a 45 degree angle, sometimes 90 if you're good, and you start spamming the L/R for the side attack; then you'll very quickly get to 2,500+ speeds. the best part is that you can retain a lot of that speed upon landing, which makes the initial slow down of floating prior to the DTD every bit worth it.

Anyone have intrest in doing this game? the few vids here already looks awsome, a complete run would be a lot of fun I think, so long as the quality was good.

Well, for what I understand, JKT wants to do each track individually, so eventually he'll make all 24 tracks. Then he'll also try the expansion too. However, I'm not so sure if he'll do all of them in a single run, so that's why I asked for a N64 tool to concatenate the runs...

That Big Blue run was nothing short of spectacular. Completely ridiculous.
