It can only be proved that it works if we get it to work. It can't be proved to be a hoax unless he says "Heyy I was lying and fooled you all"

I still think a 70 star glitchless run would be fun to watch, and it will only be more needed if this causes the any% runs to not even collect a star.

On a note not related to 0 star running, I think it should be possible to somehow glitch through the door in the cabin at the bottom of CCM. Either by BLJing on the elevator that takes you to the pink bob-omb, or by using the penguin on top of the cabin like you use the bunny to go through doors in the basement.
And the point of glitching through that door would be...? (And besides, that door is a loading point so it wouldn't bring you inside the cabin.)
The point is, you go through the door from inside the cabin to activate the star for slip slidin' away. Definitely faster for a 120 star run, might even make it into a 16 star run.

I see no reason why glitching into the cabin would work. Firstly, if the door doesn't open from outside area then there is no reason why it would open from the inner bit. Secondly, definitley too slow to make it into a 16 star run if it was possible. Thirdly it been proven that the inner area in the cabin is empty space so Mario would just fall and die anyway.

Would this tool make it possible to analyze the basement for invisible ceilings and the like?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think SM64 players have been trying to get in there for a while, the theory being (I think) that if we can get into the loading point, we'd have a "Snowy Room of Death".
I think we should put aside all discussion except for this basement BLJ spot until either it is proven that it works or that it is a hoax.
Agreed.

I've seen odd bugd in other N64 games, like walls in Castlevania that block getting anywhere in the first level. There's a real possibility this guy had dust on the cartridge and it made stuff appear where it shouldn't.

Kinda like crooked cartridge on OoT? Perhaps we should ask him if he did it on the rom or console.

He said it was done on a console.

Stranger things have happened with really old carts. I was playing Goldeneye with a friend of mine one day... we both had ARs, and were running straight at each other, blasting away, when an explosion killed us both. Out of nowhere. Neither of us got a kill or a suicide.

When I was playing Zelda OoT at my friend's house, during the chicken fetch quest for the bottle, when I put back the last chicken and talked to the girl instead of getting a bottle the screen started flashing white and black and making crackling noises like thunder, the girl started spouting gibberish (I think she was dumping the contents of a random memory address cause I saw my character's name show up at some point). After that it froze and me and my friend were just staring at one another not wanting to even touch the N64. Do I win?

Just want to say that I've found a blj location in the basement although I'm not sure if its the one the guy on gameFAQS was refering to, if it is then the guy can't describe for shit. Although I have to say I'm pessimistic of it turning out to be useful.

After some hard testing of the blj spot, I was only able to get 6 bljs at max, after that I can't control Mario and he shoots away with hyperspeed which doesn't last very long and isn't enough to be able to travel though objects like doors. If there was some way I could jam Mario so that I could rev up near infinite bljs.

Probably, I would check it out but I'm kinda busy ATM. Someone with a bit of free time should try it.

How 'bout nooooo? If you want to see a 70 star run, watch the 120 star run, 95% of it is in there somewhere...

I've managed to find a second blj spot in the basement which seemed a lot more promising that the last, I managed to get 10 possibly 11 bljs but sadley it doesn't seem nearly enough and it doesn't even seem to reach the speeds that Mario can get at the 50 star door with the same amount since I tested the 50 star door slope and it only took 10 to be able to get past it... strange :(

Mind telling where it is? Detailed description would be nice.

It liek at the corner of the basement but next to the slope that slopes down to the water, I was facing sideways and I went in the ledge was just above the rim and started bljing like mad, unfortunatley I've never done it again and I can't record nor upload any screenshots, but the descriptions there so anyone can do what I just did.

Anyway this is the relevent blj I was talking about, I strongly advise that it should be watched frame by frame, so you can see that I pretty much maximized it, sadly I think I would probally need another 4 or 5 to glitch past the door. http://rapidshare.com/files/42380521/Phailed.avi.html Impossible to do without tool assistance, since mario goes along a seam.
