Yeah, I would get arrows if I could actually manipulate them. There's also the fact collecting items is fairly slow in this game and you have to waste time waiting having to some spend time equipping them. I believe the game decides what items the enemies drop when you scroll the screen and there isn't much you can do.

Actually, if you really could manipulate what you want from drops, it would probably be best to manipulate it so you got 99 charmstones early, as that would open up a hidden warp direct to the last boss. Still, it's looking like that is nearly impossible without extensive knowledge of the game mechanics.

After you have getting the legendary stuff... sword/shield/armor. Is there any point getting the other swords except the Magical Sabre?? And for Shields and Armors.. Since we probably wont take any damage. Is there any use to even buy the Mithril Armor/Shield except the armor at the lava so you can walk in it(atleast I think it was the armor)? :) EDIT: Nvm that with the mithril armor. Saw that you had to buy the armor to get the sword to appear =)
You don't really need the Shogun stuff, it makes the Dragon Zombie a quicker fight, although I guess it would be slower in the long run, since you have to go out of your way to get the cash. With the Tasmanian Sword you can transform into any of the other forms by attacking at the top of your jump, even the forms you don't have. So you could get the sword, morph to hawk-man, fly to the Samurai Dragon's castle and warp back to the town. To see it in action you should check out Jack "#endgame" Kelly's Speedrun.

I managed to beat the beat the Zombie Dragon, but the movie fucking desynced...gay. Oh well, I didn't lose too much, and it's annoying at best. I had a few minor mistakes anyway so I can change those. I'll post it here soon if it doesn't desync again.

Do you remember how you got it to desync?

I've always thought the Tasmanian sword thing was a hoax because I never got it to work, but the SDA speedrun finally convinced me otherwise...

From Wikipedia: Tasmanian Sword: allows you to change form. To activate this power, jump and, while in the air, hold button 2 on the second controller and press button 1 on the first.

I don't think I'm going to get that sword because while it may be faster, I consider it the same as the trick/debug thing on Mega Man 3 with the second controller. Plus I'd like to see the whole game completed.

I would very much like to work on this run. But, I do not think I can determine the route myself. If anyone have a well thought and solid route for the weaponry and the route, please let me know as soon as possible so I can get started. Edit: Ogre, we could work on this together if you'd like. Also, it would be great if want to upload your wip. I am in desperate need for a route :)

Here is my latest. Pretty much in the same place at the Zombie Dragon dungeon. I'm not sure if the Shogun gear is really worth it. Thats something either you or me could test later. As for the route, it's fairly straight forward. I still need to finish this test run with my planned route for a reference. I'll just do the rest sloppily cause it doesn't matter. I dunno why I was optimizing it well for the most part cause I didn't plan to submit. :P I would feel more motivated to work on this on my free time if I had a partner, so that would be cool. I didn't plan on getting the Tasmanian Sword, because it seems lame and it reminds me of the Mega Man 3 debug thing with the second controller. I hope that's cool with you.

Lets discuss this. If I am not mistaken, to get the Tasmanian Sword, it involves collecting around 1700 gold to purchase it + the viewers wont be able to see cool boss fights and areas. If this is the case then I say, lets really skip it. Even though it might save time, I am fairly sure it is a lot more entertaining to skip it. Also, should we not test to whether or not, get those arrows for bosses? If you have already have an answer for that, it would save us a lot of thinking :) If the game is indeed a straightforward game and does not require us to find the optimal route, then by all means, finish the rest of the testrun so that I know where to go :) Its been too long since I played this and I have forgotten the path.

Complete Route. I made a mistake. I forgot to grab the key before I warped after beating the Pirate Dragon. You see me have to go all the way with Hawk Man to get it. Otherwise, this route is optimal I think. At least if you aren't getting the Tasmanian Sword. Speaking of that, I believe you skip 2 bosses if you use it and it would make the run more boring I think. The only thing I'm still unsure of, as I mentioned before, is the Shogun gear. It certainly speeds up the Zombie Dragon fight which still takes ages. It takes like twice as long without though. I also think arrows would speed the Mummy Dragon fight up a lot. The problem is you can't really get the items you want in this game and picking up stuff takes forever. I guess if we could get 10 arrows without wasting too much time on the way to the Mummy Dragon, it might be worth it. Oh, and I ended it at the last dungeon cause there's no point doing that cause it's so straight forward.

Alright, thanks for the info. I think we have agreed on skipping the Tasmanian Sword. What we could do is try to get as many arrows as possible for the Mummy Dragon. Do we need arrows after that? Also, I will get started tomorrow. When I saw your recent test wip, I thought the first part looked good and I sincerely doubt I could gain any frames. But I want to test a few things before using your wip. I am glad to work on this project with someone who knows this game pretty well :) I'll send you our run within 2-3 days. Later!

Nah, we shouldn't need any more arrows after that. I also started a new run and saved a few frames on the first few screens and on the and title screen. (no Autofire and whatnot) Here it is.

Does anyone know of a password or something so I can get infinite or a lot of arrows as Lizard-Man? I know of the WE5T0NE code, but the infinite items the Hu-Man has losses effect when you transform. He also does way more damage than the Lizard-Man so I can't use him to test comparatively. I just need to know how many arrows I need for the Mummy Dragon.

If you feel comfortable with memory watch you can poke value 0xCF40 which is the number of arrows in inventory. I did a bit of testing on mummy dragon, and it's strange, it does 2 to 8 damage per arrow and usually 4. You'd probably be better at it than me ;) Good luck, your route wip looks good and this game is funny...

Update: The run is going smoothly. Angerfist and myself just finished beating the Zombie Dragon. It turned out that arrows weren't worth it for the Mummy dragoon. We managed to find a good pattern. (Though we had to take damage to keep it.) Also Buying the Mithril Sword also wasn't worth it because it seems Lizard Man has the potential to do up to 8 damage with the starter sword. The Mithril Sword doesn't really do anything it seems. Buying the Shogun Sword turned out to be worth it for the Zombie Dragon fight (4-8 damage range vs a 2-3..no brainer). Even with the time it takes to collect the coins and the fact you also have to buy and wear the Mithril to be able to buy the Shogun stuff. (Charms Stones are too rare and manipulation sucks in this game.) We had to delay some hits on him so we could get all 8 damage hits, otherwise we would do 4 damage. I figured I'd let you guys know how the run is going. I probably won't post any WIPs so look forward to it in the workbench eventually! :)

Here is a small taste what to expect in our run. :) Too bad aren't more places to create blocks like that. It looks quite cool. It would look cool scaling up 200 feet. :P

Samurai Dragon is dead. Now all the remains is the final dungeon and the last boss. Expect to see it on the workbench soon.
