This run is similar to Walker Boh's. I played not very quickly in the beginning part, because I arrived at Alba Town at night, I must wait to the morning to get red crystal, so need not to go very quickly. In the third mansion, I met Death quickly after the wall sinking, most time saver. I didn't take needless damage, saved several seconds to increase HP when my level up. In the fourth mansion, I went and killed Camilla quicker, saved several seconds. At last, it was 28 seconds faster than Walker Boh's run. Thank to Walker Boh, I learnt some tricks from his run.

Sorry. Forgot to write earlier. This is a clear yes-vote. However... Wouldn't it be possible to reduce lag quite a lot in some places?
Instead of jumping over enemies you could kill some of them to save a couple of more frames?

I think it's possible. I killed some enemies in some places to reduce lag, saved several frames in some of them, in others not saved. So I'm sure that the run can be improved, with much more re-record counts.
Nice voted yes not that it matters. If you plan on doing another Castlevania game you should do Bloodlines. It hasn't been done yet for some weird reason and it rocks.

" sounds like excellent planning, but say that you ran to Alba Town as fast as possible (Still getting Holy Water and stuff), how close would you be to the town when the night falls?
Wow. I declare Zggzdydp the best Castlevania TASer ever. Some people become known for running the same game, or series, repeatedly. Rikku has 3 Super Mario 64 runs. Fractalfusion has 3 pokémon runs. Baxter has 4 tetris runs. But you have made 4 great Castlevania TASes, in a very short span of time!
Reaching the cyan town (Aljiba) for the white->blue crystal swap cannot be done anywhere near fast enough.
Even if you skip everything (holy water and stuff), you will be about 2 and half minutes (real time) late. (Not to mention, you wouldn't have the white crystal that you intended to swap for.)
Reaching the magenta town (Aldra) for the blue->red crystal swap also cannot be done anywhere near fast enough. Even if you skip the river-ferry detour to the Brahm mansion and hearts collecting and stuff, you will still be about one and half minutes (real time) late.
These numbers were estimated from watching the TAS, but I do recall that there's really no plausible possibility.

I can't help but wonder though -- has anyone ever considered using death as a timesaver in this game? It seems like it could save a lot of time backtracking out of mansions. If memory serves correctly, you can even use the 'fall through floor' glitch to fall off the bottom of the screen and drown in water that isn't really there.
Since you don't need hearts after you get the 5th piece of dracula, it seems like it could be faster to die in the mansion and get a game over to warp to the start of the mansion.
I'm not sure how many game overs you can get and still receive the 'best' ending, but I have a feeling that death can be used in this movie as a timesaver.

When Simon dies, he will just start in the last place where he stood on a non-moving platform. That means that if he jumped into a pond, he won't resume in the pond, but instead, in the place where he jumped from. Same for dying in the midst of swamps. But die in the middle of five skeletons, no problem, he'll just continue from that exact spot.
Whether you use just one or all of his extra lifes, does not matter. He will not be returned to the beginning of the dungeon, or something of that sorts.
If you get a password, reset the game and input the password, you will start in the first town instead, at daytime. But I don't think that's an acceptable technique ― passwords are a bit controversial.
It is not necessary for game completion or for acquiring any next item.
However, it will greatly save time in mansions (the only places where tangible improvements in time won't be countered by night/day changes), so it's deemed as being required.
Also, you will need 150 hearts to acquire the morning star (which must be owned in order to acquire the fire whip in exchange later), and you also need 50 hearts in each mansion to purchase the oak stake. Collecting those hearts with just the basic whip is rather hard if you want to progress… Because only in the beginning will the monsters die from just 4 attacks or less.
I think Walker Boh can give a definite reply at whether it is plausible at all, for this movie uses basically his route with technical improvements only.
Also: Nice seeing you post, Walker Boh! You have been awfully away'ish lately.
After checking out this run, I think it's improvable but not by much. Maybe with a little more planning on what hearts to get exactly, more testing on what's the utmost quickest way of doing something and removing lag as much as possible could stretch another good improvement.
Don't get me wrong, this is absolutely great as it is and I vote yes as it's an improvement worth noting.
I voted meh, while the run seems to be of high quality and a good improvement it was awfully boring to watch with most of the time spent moving slowly through random areas with nothing really interesting going on or waiting for the day/night cycle to advance. No interesting battles, nothing that looked like an insane stunt.
I haven't played the game so that might make it uninteresting to me but I often found myself wishing this was over soon and unlike other TASes wasn't worried about missing anything if I took my eyes off the screen for a moment since the game is just so slow-paced.

You're right, whats even the point of having a poll when its an improvement? I mean, if its faster its guaranteed to get on the site, right? Why not just say "ok, i improved this, make an avi now?"
