Feel free to comment on that idea if you see fit).
My avatar is just kinda a joke. I told some people on IRC "ok time to make an avatar I'm going to mspaint it and I'm going to call it Abstract Painting #1 hahahahah". It was one of those nights, it was hilarious at the time. So no, no special meaning. I do think my mood avatars are hilariously awesome though.
As for forums, I hang out on exactly two. This one and www.twoplustwo.com, which is a poker (my "career" of sorts) forum (2+2 is a publishing company for gambling related books) with plenty of sweet off-topic'ish action too. As far as forum time goes it's something like 90-95% 2+2 5-10% tasvideos.
I'm not too sure about how strong TASing is going, mainly because I have so little interest in almost every new run submitted. Like I said earlier I pretty much watch Super Metroid, Sonic games, SMW/SDW and some other Mario games I guess and very little else. I feel in general the community as a whole is getting worse though. One big reason for this, I feel, is the increased competitiveness and general hostility between forum members. When was the last time you saw a civilized discussion here?
This doesn't necessarily affect the movies themselves, but I think it might, because as more people come to think of TASes as frame competitions rather than awesome looking super sweet movies, the heart and soul of the runs disappear and you're left with just a stopwatch, if that made any sense. I should rewrite this but I've spent enough time on it already so.

SMW is an extremely tiny part of my life, all things considered. If Nintendo never made SMW I would have spent slightly more time playing card games (poker and Magic the gathering) and wouldn't really notice any difference.

What is your opinion on modern gaming systems (such as the Wii and Playstation 3)? What about the games produced for them?
The most modern games I've played are either Resident Evil II for Playstation or Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64. I've never seen a Wii or Playstation 3 (or 2) in my life and couldn't name a single game for them except Twilight Princess (which might be a different console, who knows), sorry.

Interesingly, I kinda thought this because there have been a ton of "Ask me about being a bouncer/anorexic/cokehead/etc" in BBV4L lately. And I do agree, their off topic section is far superior to this sites, but that could be said of almost any other site on teh interwebz, due to it being so awesome. Plus they have nearly 100k members, which helps w/ the discussions. Nice to know there's a fellow 2+2er here though. Also, in my 4 month hiatus, that's where I spent most of my time online, although not improving my poker game as much as I should have.... staying break even is pretty much what brought me back to TASing.

I guess I kinda used to kinda think of you as an "enemy" if you will because I considered you to be one of like 4 smart people on this forum and I enjoy feeling better than everyone else. Also you insulted me a few times which kinda pissed me off and I can be very grumpy.
The reason I don't love you is because I don't really know you, and the vibe I'm getting is we probably wouldn't be great friends even if we put some effort into it. I appreciate that you can occasionally be serious behind the sarcasm and cynicism, but I think I would like you more if you showed that non-sarcastic side more often.
I think associates will work out well though.

The Ask Me threads started in OOT like 18+ months ago actually, the somewhat recent BBV4L versions are just copycats of that. This isn't intended to be one of those kinds of threads though, more like a Dear Abby kind of deal. For some reason people are focusing on asking me personal questions, though I definitely don't mind as I enjoy attention as much as the next guy.

Most of the uncivilizedness came from personal conflicts and stupid pride - with some of those who often acted up posting less frequently, I actually think it has improved. What's also gotten better is that there are less superfluous posts of people attempting to be funny, keeping the information/post-ratio higher. Something I value in work-threads, especially when trying to dig information out of a 100-page OoT thread which contains 50% spam.

Yeah I can definitely see work-threads being better for the reasons you state. To be honest I don't follow any, I occasionally read the Super Metroid thread and have looked at Mario 64 and OoT (which is indeed not a great example of a better forum today) a couple times but that's really it.
Mainly though I think it's just different perspectives. I've always enjoyed the "trying to be funny" posts, at least the general tone they have created. Again though this isn't really true for work-threads and you have a very solid point there. For instance, I don't mind a slightly worse information/noise ratio in a typical General thread. I think the atmosphere used to be pretty nice around here, then the people who made it enjoyable stopped posting, pretty much. That's my perspective.
I'm not sure if you're 0% serious or 5% serious but if you are slightly serious, thank you very much. If you want to become more awesome (not you personally, a general note), humble down a couple notches and realize differing viewpoints from yours will very often be correct. From this follows that you will be incorrect (not when the topic is subjective of course), and if people were able to acknowledge this and accept this they would instantly start sucking much less, in general.
