(Nes) Bayoubil and Mad City (J) are the same game. (NES) Ninja Gaiden 3 (U) and NES Ninja Gaiden 3 (J) are the same game too. But there are much difference bteween these two games, especially between Bayoubil and Mad City (J). The published run is made by U.But we can reduce some minutes(at least one minute) if we use Mad City (J). Then which rom should we select?

We will meet less enemy and skip much if using Mad City (J) instead of Bayoubil.

Quote from the author:
The American version of this game is a lot more difficult than the Japanese one (Mad City), although this video makes it seem easy.
The author chose the USA version exactly because it is more difficult. It is a guideline here to choose the more difficult version if possible. An exception is when the only thing it (the more difficult version) does is make the movie more boring. (Personally, I think this game is boring regardless.)

It is not true that USA version is always more difficult. Double Dragon 2(U) is much easier than Double Dragon 2(J).One "A+B" will not kill one enemy in Double Dragon 2(J),but one "A+B" can kill one enemy in Double Dragon 2(U). Sometimes,Japanese version's logo is shorter than USA version's logo. If we meet that,Whinc rom should we select?

However, the logo duration has no value in judging the versions.

>(NES) Ninja Gaiden 3 (U) and NES Ninja Gaiden 3 (J) are the same game too. Then you should select U! >But there are much difference bteween these two games, especially between Bayoubil and Mad City (J). The published run is made by U. Then you should select U! Conclusion: you should always select U. See the rules:
Use the (U) version of a ROM unless there is a good reason not to (as an example a shortcut/trick which only works in a different version, or superior music), or the version does not exist.
Shorter intro screen and easier enemies are not good reasons to switch from U.
