The premise of Serpent is that you try to "Box in" your opponent, thus killing them. Often, games can last several minutes due to the limited length of snakes, but the length of this run is 7 seconds. This TAS is more for the sake of beating a game quickly, than beating a specific game quickly.
This run: Plays at highest difficulty level
Is a concept demo
This run was made in around 1 hour. Many of the rerecords were taken manipulating the opponent to box itself in. Due to the superior AI at the hardest difficulty, it is not possible to have the enemy snake/ship go in a straight line towards the player. Also, the opponent (but not the player) can reverse direction to save itself, so it is necessary to cover both ends. Then my snake crashes into a wall to freeze his tail (and to allow for earlier input end time). Notably, I've found 3 different paths that end in 393 frames as well, so this is presumably the fastest time possible.
Let me explain a bit about the matches that take place after the movie: Serpent is a meant to be a futuristic sport game, one with a very near end point. You can think of the series as being like a "World Series" or something. I only play one game, as opposed to the entire series. If it would be considered more publishable to make a run which completes 7 battles, I'll submit that, but personally I believe 1 battle is better.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Here goes! Feel free to clean up the list.

Truncated: This run is rejected due to poor votes from the audience.

Does this even complete the game? After the snake declares victory another round immediately begins, leading to infinite rounds of losses due to no input. I don't see a ending/credits screen anywhere. I'll withhold my vote until these questions are answered. On the other hand, if this is meant to be a demonstration like first track f-zero, then I will have to vote no as it is not interesting at all. BTW, this run only works on v19 if anyone is interested.

I'm voting "meh" on this, leaning more towards "no" than "yes". Good things: *It was very short. *The game choise wasn't that bad. *It kept me interested those whole 6.55 seconds. ;) Bad things: *Nothing spectacular happened, and it didn't look superhumanly played. EDIT: Maybe you chould play more than one round, since one round is a little too short? Five rounds perhaps? I mean, if this is a concept demo, it might be fun to show of some more things this game has to offer, I think there are some special weapons that you can acquire.

The game completes one round as intended, then after the movie, the player crashes 7 times and loses. So it doesn't really complete the game. Nothing spectacular in such a short movie. Voting no. It would certainly be better if you win 7 rounds (or however many to win).

Um.. no... if the game ended right there... then it'd be awesome... but it keeps going... concept demo or not... no.. just no.. To that, I want my 6.55 seconds back and the time it took to write this post explaining my no vote. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

It takes first to 7 wins, then loops back to 0-0. No credits or anything, just the snake with ears looking beat up, or something... If you did all seven, then maybe I'd yes it. Here, I say no.

(after your snake crashes 7 times) NesVideoAgent either forgot about this screenshot or doesn't care.

Maybe it only looks for screenshots during the time the movie file is giving input.

It's Tron. Single Tron battles are not meant to be played in isolation.

That post is a little confusing. I know what Tron is, and this game is similar, but what do you mean by the second sentence?

But only took 7 seconds to vote no. Poor game choice, my low attention span couldn't last the whole movie.

Yeah... I don't think this sort of posting is very desirable around here. Especially the animated image macro isn't the kind of thing that we generally appreciate. And... you could have been more constructive in stating your opinion for instance saying that this is an example of "poor game choice" would be constructive.
