I love adelikat and everyone who takes their free time and encode the runs but this must be said. Recently, basically all the new encoded runs suffers from noticable poor sound quality. For instance, if you compare Bisqwits encoding of Chip n Dale 2 with Deigns, you will notice a pretty significant difference in the sound (i.e. Bisqwits has better sound). This was just one example as there are lots of other examples. So therefore, the problem cannot be with FCEU. I humbly request for a bit of consistency and better encoding with the sound. [Edit by Bisqwit: More descriptive thread title]

Seconded. An increase of about 5-10 kbps will hardly kill anyone, yet it will most likely be enough to preserve sound quality on a better level.

It is also worth pointing out that I use an entirely different sound emulation engine in FCEU.

I want also take the opportunity to stress carefulness to publishers. In file naming, in game naming, in player naming and all. For example, in last Chip&Dale 2 publication, Deign named the AVI "chipndale2-tas-dragonxyk.avi", neglecting the existing publication which was named "chipdale2-tas-2p-alone-dragonxyk.avi". The new AVI should have been "chipdale2-tasv2-2p-alone-dragonxyk.avi". Deign's naming deviated from existing usage for no reason, and neglected the fact that it's author second run. The game name also deviates from existing practise. Existing run was "Chip 'n Dale ― Rescue Rangers 2", the new one was named "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2". And Adelikat's publication of SMB1 FDS contains ".avi" twice: "smb1fds-tasv2-phil.avi.avi" and changes the game name from "Super Mario Bros" into "Super Mario Bros.", deviating from existing practise. BE MORE CAREFUL. PLEASE.

I take the responsibility for suggesting "Bros." with the period to adelikat, because that period is a part of the name (which means leaving it out previously was a mistake to begin with). I should have mentioned it differently, so it's my bad.

This might be a good time to write up some guidelines for file naming so that encoders and publishers can have something to reference and be certain that they have named the avi correctly.

I'm glad I'm sticking with my "fancy indexing", cuz I tried reading through that and I went cross-eyed.

This thread pisses me off greatly. I do this as a hobby and to help others. If you have a problem with an error I have made, speak to me directly. I don't need public embarrassment where we point out every mistake I have made. If the goal is better quality this isn't it. A thread where we complain about everything that has been done improperly is only going to turn off me or others from doing the work. This is bullshit.
