Submission Text Full Submission Page
Ikki (いっき) is a game about an enraged framer mad about ninjas jumping up and down constantly outside his home. Yet he never asked them to simply leave.
Ikki is a short game made by Sunsoft, the same makers of Atlantis no Nazo and Gimmick!. In fact, the main character, a framer by the name Ikki, appears at the ending screen of AnN.
The author controls two characters due to it being 2 times quicker than one player. A glitch is also used in which one character dies at the top of the screen between a ninja and a wall to save time. (Stage 3)
This is a result of about 4 days in the making.

Game objectives

  • FCEU 0.98.16
  • Aims for the fastest time
  • Controls 2 players
  • Uses death as a shortcut
  • Genre: Maze
  • Manipulates luck

Other comments

Better luck manipulation in Stage 3 would probably be an improvement, as with a tiny bit better movement in Stage 2.

Pretty meh, so I'll give this a meh... I've never played this game so I may be wrong, but your luck manipulation wasn't very convincing. You paused very often to damage enemies or avoid damage (perhaps at least some of this is avoidable?). The game is pretty bad (similar to Goof Troop, but lame) but the trick was kind of interesting so I'm not completely against this run... So, yeah...meh.

I think Mukki took the words right out of my mouth. Also, I'm generally against games that just loop without ending. What a lame way for programmers to try to create the illusion of replay value. If I'd spent 35 or 40 bucks on this game to find out it was 4 levels long, I'd have Karate Kid kicked the krap out of it. Voted meh.

Looping games was just the standard in arcade games back then. you can't complain about that. You can complain that it is bad to TAS that kind of game though, for the most part. This game is hard and not bad to play, as I recall... I'm interested in seeing it looped as fast as possible, but I'll have to watch some other time, kinda busy.

Oh, these graphics… I've seen them somewhere. Is it from the same maker as the Mystery of Atlantis? EDIT: Oh, it is. Should have read the submission message first :) It looks like classic pirate cart fodder. I did not watch the movie yet, I only commented on the screenshots taken by our friend NesVideoAgent. :)

Oh, crap. Never noticed that. Cancelling this submission for obvious reasons.
See Youtube page (GIRfanaticTAS) for all runs and stuff.

I enjoyed watching that one. It has: - short lenght (I watched it three times without getting bored!) - funny graphics - happiness - funny (stupid) music - speed powerups - suspense - death as a shortcut! - 1985 - ninjas If girfanatic501 (or anybody) makes a new movie that improves it further, I will very likely vote "yes" for it. The game makes me smile.
