You know, that stuff you do every day that pays the bills. I'm sure that there are a lot of people here who have jobs related to computers, coding, programming, etc, but I'm curious to see what other spread we have here. If you're in college (or to a lesser extent, high school), what is your major or your plan for a profession after you graduate? As for me, I graduated with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, and I'm currently in a Doctoral Physical Therapy program, so in 10 short months I'll get to call myself Dr. Nick (Hey everybody! Hi Dr. Nick!). I'll probably end up working for a while in an outpatient office for a while, but hopefully sometime in the future I'll fall into a job with a professional sports team, since I'm also an athletic trainer. So what do you guys all do?

Before I decided to flee civilization and go back to school, I was an assistant manager at a UPS Store. I'm currently pursuing a computer science major with a minor in English, despite the well-observed fact that I show utter disregard for the basic rules of sentence structure. I'm living entirely off of the excess from my federal grants and loans at the moment, but intend to find some sort of work over the summer for the dual purpose of building up reserves and keeping myself sane.

I dropped out of a computer science program, got a temp job answering the phone at a catalog company, then ultimately got into the IT department at the same company. I want to go back and get my degree at some point, but I'm terribly lazy :)

I currently work at Starbucks as a Barista, during the summer I'm a camp counselor at a summer day camp. College wise, I'm undecided and just rumbling through, but as of recently I've had a lot of inspiration to declare a major in communications, seeing as I've had two communications classes in two semesters that really impress me. I don't know where it'll end up, but broadcast writing, radio, voice over, communications stuff, mass media, whatever; they're all appealing. This is a good thing since I'm the kind of college student who would go through 4 years not knowing what the hell I want to do with my life. Also, isn't this thread a little, obsolete, given that in forum user's profile pages there's a space for profession?

The word you're looking for is redundant. But given the fact that half the people don't fill that part out, and I was interested in more than one word answers, no.

I am currently going for Electrical Engineering Technology. Basically, I laugh at the EE douches who decide "Hey, why not write out 10 fucking pages of equations to solve a simple trial and error problem?!?!?!?!" Douche. Make circuits, play with electricity, and build with legos (yes, there is a lab with legos). What more could a guy ask for? I wish I had found this thread a little more... sober.

I started work as a digital design engineer. Basically I design, code, test, and verify the digital part of stuff that goes into someone's product. I did a Bachelor's of Science at University of California, Berkeley in EECS (electrical engineer, computer science), so perhaps me and stickyman may share some interests.

Got a job at the EPA finally, and I only have a few more classes before I graduate with a degree in Environmental Systems Chemistry/Policy. Beats doing AE reporting for the biotech industry.

I work at a job where I get yelled and swore at by stupid people over other people's mistakes and get paid very little (although I get crappy benefits woohoo!) in the process. Sadly, I would probably make more going across the street working at McDonalds. Yeah, sad...ain't it? (P.S. Please be respectful to your hotel front desk clerks or anybody else in the public industry. You get better service that way.)

I teach math to kiddies in the ages 16 - 20, mostly "troubled" kids, and a bit of simple C++, mostly to "untroubled" kids. Yep, you got it, I'm a teacher to ungrateful bastards, ehm, I mean, nice and polite kids.

Currently I'm looking for work, quite unsuccessfully. But I'm waiting to start training for becoming an air traffic controller, just need to get my speech to a more... audible state. Damn you brain, being too fast for my mouth to handle :(.
