you can save 49 frames in the croco fight if you time croco to attack mallow the 1st three attacks doing 9 hp damage each (mallow will die after 3rd), this way you won't have to keep defending mallow. have mario use kerokerocola on himself when needed.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars (U) [!].smc Should it not have the [!]? I don't know all that much about rom notation, but when using the snes9x (improved version) it says "wrong file format" as I try to load the movie...guessing it's a different version.

the [!] usually indicates a verified good dump of the rom. This is generally the best version to select.

Did you use snes9x v1.51+? His wips can be played only on v1.43+. Please try it. But if you used v1.43+, the smv you downloaded might be wrong, so jump to this page and click "Link" to download the correct smv.
Retired because of that deletion event. Projects (WIP RIP): VIP3 all-exits "almost capeless yoshiless", VIP2 all-exits, TSRP2 "normal run"

at frame 379800, you don't have to fight the Heavy Troopa. if you go around to the right side of it, you can squeeze through the door. this saves ~15 seconds. another bit of info i wish i had divulged much earlier but i only just remembered it now

Instead I'll use it vs SHOGUN.(I'll use this strategy next run) Maybe 3~5 seconds faster.

i'm just curious, but is completely skipping the Heavy Troopa fight actually slower? it doesn't seem like the small amount of experience gained in that fight would significantly speed up the later boss fights to an amount of 15 seconds, but if you've tested it and it actually is slower then i guess i'm wrong in case you're confused this is what I meant

As for the rules and guidelines, I haveve taken a quick look at your movie and it seems to agree with them. I also think someone would have said something by now if it did not.

was0x, why do you allow the characters to take damage in battles when it is quite easy to avoid it? Does it affect the enemies' actions? Some other luck manipulation?

What little things have you changed? Or, (anyone can tell me) what little things have been changed since the last run? I watched the last .smv you posted, and it's quite good - but I'm wondering how much has changed since I don't fully remember the old run (I know it's here on the site but I can't contrast and compare two large videos etc). Were there any large time-savers besides skipping Mack?

Your English isn't as bad as you think it is, the txt. is fairly readable, but I cleaned up for you because...well I like doing it for some reason. Also, I assumed Mad Armor = Mad Adder.
This run beats the previous one by about 5 minutes. I used Snes9x v1.43+ v12 beta10. Tricks & Glitches Mario's Jump Attack (special) The more he uses his special attack "Jump", the stronger it becomes (the limit +85, as I recall.) Untimed Defense Not timing defense saves a few frames, but it doesn't always work. Skip a Terrapin's Attack (Thanks spezzafer) Move the cursor and kill a different Terrapin. Mario isn't attacked this way. Mack skip (Thanks Hakusekirei & ITK) Jump on one of the bodyguards and you can skip Mack's battle. Skip Heavy Troopa(Thanks Spezzfer) In Nimbus Land, you can skip Heavy Troopa twice. Differences Bowser's Keep Vs. Terrapins changed. I skipped one of their attack turns. 129 frames saved.(Total 129) Mushroom Way I optimized vs. Hammer Bros. 6 frames saved.(136) Mushroom Kingdom (First time) Unchanged. Lost one frame, not sure why. 1 frame slower.(135) Bandit's way Optimized movement. I gained 19 exp. in the second to last area in order to get Mario to Lvl. 5 before Croco. And I lost 1 flower. 8 frames slower.(127) Mushroom Kingdom (second time) I used the Mack skip glitch. I changed it a bit. So, I lost 12 exp. 12054 frames saved. (12181) Kero Sewers I optimized movement. Got 1 flower, but I slowed down the fight with Belome, because Mario's attack is weak here. He only does 45~49 damage. (51~54 in spezzafer's movie) 950 frames slower.(11231) EMidas River I only got 60 coins, so that the following message and sound don't appear. "I'll hold your x(1~10) extra coin(s)." 68 frames saved.(11299) Tadpole Pond (first time) I optimized movement. 4 frames saved.(11303) Rose Way I optimized movement. I skipped a flower. 253 frames saved.(11556) Rose Town Skipped 3 flowers. Sorry, but I messed up the Inn's route. I answered Gaz's question, "No". This skips a message and jump action. 292 frames saved.(11848) Forest Maze I didn't get 2 Kerokerocolas. Slower on Bowyer for the same reason as Belome. 97 frames saved.(11945) Moleville I sold an extra Kerokerocola, and I bought an extra set of Work Pants. I optimized the Croco fight. I gained 50 exp. in the third to last area, in order to get Mario to Lvl. 9 before Yaridovich. Lost time on the Punchinello fight for the Bob-omb. I optimized the mine cart ride. 496 frames saved.(12441) Booster pass I optimized movement. 6 frames saved.(12447) Booster Tower I optimized movement. I didn't use the Lucky Jewel on Knife Guy. This can skip Knife Guy's attack. Mario and Mallow's level up screen doesn't appear. 1623 frames saved.(14070) Booster Hill I optimized movement. Got 15 flowers. No real reason for this. 1 frames saved.(14071) Marrymore I optimized movement. I used Lucky Jewel against Bundt. This can skip Bundt's attack twice. Mario and Mallow's level up screen appears. 352 frames slower.(13719) Mushroom Kingdom (third time) I optimized movement. 30 frames saved.(13749) Tadpole Pond (second time) Unchanged. 0 frame save(slower).(13749) Star Hill I optimized movement. 23 frames saved.(13772) Seaside Town (first time) I optimized movement. 3 frames saved.(13775) Sea I optimized movement. 28 frames saved.(13803) Sunken ship I optimized movement, and the battles with Tentacles, Pirates and Johnny. I skipped Johnny's attack once. 368 frames saved.(14171) Seaside Town (second time) I optimized movement, and equipping. Geno equipped Amulet. This enables Geno to stand Yaridovich's attack once without guarding, and I skipped his attack once. I only sold a Flower Jar. 223 frames saved.(14394) Land's End (first time) I optimized movement. I changed Geno to Peach before fighting the Shoguns, because Mario is faster than Peach, so I could skip using Defense. I also used Lucky Jewel twice instead of using the Hammer. 361 frames saved.(14755) Monstro Town I optimized movement. 2 frames saved.(14757) Land's End (second time) I optimized movement. 3 frames saved.(14760) Bean Valley I optimized movement. Smilax only uses normal attacks. 72 frames saved.(14832) Nimbus Land (first time) I optimized movement, and the battles with Birdo and Valentina. With Valentina, Bowser didn't use a timed attack. Skipped a Heavy Troopa fight. 1435 frames saved.(16257) Barrel Volcano I optimized movement, normal enemy fights, the Czar Dragon and Zombone fights, and the Axem Rangers fight. Against the Axem Rangers Mario didn't time an attack on Axem Red. I gained 121 Exp. using a star in order to get Mario to level 15. 243 frames saved.(16500) Nimbus Land (second time) I optimized movement. I changed the route for riding the royal bus. 317 frames saved.(16817) Bowser's Keep (second time) I optimized movement,and the fight with Magikoopa. 211 frames saved in the 6 doors. 276 frames saved.(17093) Gate I optimized movement, but I was delayed about 2 seconds by enemies. In the fight with Mad Adder Bowser didn't use a timed attack. I skipped opening the equip menu before Gunyolk and Factory Chief, because Bowser didn't need to be at level 17. In the first Smithy battle, I used two Rock Candies, an Ice Bomb, and Geno attacked with Double Punch. In the second battle, he didn't get to transform into the Magic Head. 835 frames saved.
