Make sure the ghost is dead and currently leaving a powerup, go to the corridor that lead in, do a crystal flash, jump into the next corridor above you, roll out onto the robot. ::watches:: Huh. Never seen that glitch triggered that way. Samus's pose has an animation index. The animation index is sometimes used to give a single pose multiple subposes - it's used by the grapple beam to rotate Samus, but it's always directly set instead of any sort of continued progression from frame to frame. It's also used by Samus's kneeling poses during the Mother Brain fight, although I haven't looked into how that works exactly. What happens in a few cases is that these direct accesses to the animation index will happen when Samus isn't in the actual pose she's supposed to be in, and the resulting animation index is often out of bounds. Hello garbage data. On the plus side, this glitch is mostly graphical. Although it may try to interpret around 180,000 bytes of data as sprites per frame. This tends to go not so well for lag and on-screen graphics. I don't know of any use for that kind of glitch, but I also don't know for sure there *isn't* any use.

That's a script action; no damage. ... it just dawned on me I know way too much about SM.
It took THAT to make you realize?

Does the Gravity Suit reduce any damage by Ridley, or in lower norfair for that fact.. Wondering if I need to re-equip it at all after lava lake O.o If not, I'll just re-quip it next time I have to pause, or be4 MB..

Well you need to re-equip it id you need to de-equip it in the first place. It reduces damage by a lot (like 50% or so). And you need the energy. But can't you just shinespark up the lava lake?

If you mean the gravity jump, it's pretty hard for me to believe it costs you less energy than a shinespark.

Why don't we stop hounding me and Moozooh just give me a link to that thingy and I just edit an smv out of my lava lake entrance? Then we can all judge it instead! ^^

I read it a while back, when Saturn was talking about his Torizo fight being faster than JXQ, and he didn't want to give his WIP out, so you gave him some editer thing that could cut out parts of an SMV, so I do not have to replicate it O.o Or something..

Well you just need to find where your savestates of Super Metroid are put, most likely they are in the same directory as the emulator. IIRC the extension of the files are .000-.009 depending on which savestate it is.

Doesn't the gravity jump continue normally even if you put gravity suit on after the jump? That way you wouldn't take damage from the lava for a way longer time than what you did there.

Nice, I didn't know it could be done spending even less energy over the shinespark method: here is the same jump with gravity suit re-equipped as early as possible (costs one frame). Theoretically you can get rid of that frame, but I didn't bother.

The Gravity Statue Skip trick is almost a half minute faster than the usual way. Although it requires early X-Ray, additional ammo for the CF and therefore some sacrifices to refill them here and there, it's definitely faster to use it in a 100% run in the end (both, in-game and especially realtime wise). Here is a video demonstration of this trick used optimally: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l39lHJvueZ0 Enjoy! Oh and NameSpoofer, welcome to TASvideos. I'm glad you decided to work on a low% run, since moozooh won't finish his one in the next 5 years if he continues it in this pace. You do fast and promising progress already, and I'm looking forward for your run. Good luck!

Bleh, as if the ammo management wasn't annoying enough already :/ But other than that a very nice addition to the run.

Saturn, Yet another trick you knew about and could have given to JXQ? Why on earth did you ever say that 36 was impossible? The two tricks alone which you kept secret ensured that 36 was possible a long time ago. Well, nice demo anyway.

Hero, I'm pretty damn sure he only made that video today. You could say the exact same thing about Kejardon or myself even

Yeah hero, although I knew about this trick for a longer time already, I too thought it would be slower at first. Only the recent discussion here made me start to doubt, so I went ahead and tested it just now. I certainly didn't expect it to save so much time before. Sorry if this comes a bit too late.

Just mentioning the obvious for those who wait for his run without realizing the truth about it.
