Very nice run man :) You had some incredibly clever tricks in there. Lowering your speed upon entering the kraid eye door room was pure genius. I tried countless times to get all the way to the eye door with the blue ball but never managed, and all I had to do was lower the speed by a fraction. Another classic bit was when you had the wallcrawler drop with you when heading toward crocomire in order to get a damage boost. Can you tell me if it was actually faster to use the alternate route when heading to the grapple beam. It seems like you did this more for entertainment purposes, because it sure seemed slower. I think that your run is reasonably well optimized considering how quickly you produced it. I don't know if you can knock 4 minutes off it using the same route, but since you guys are using a different route it could be possible. Congrats on finishing it!

When coming out of that hidden area with the knee-high water (that slows you down a lot without the gravity suit), could you have used the high ground path again, to gain a shinespark, or would it be slower? I'm still watching the run.

I'll watch that later, but here's an idea I had when leaving WS in some run: When you enter that skree-room where you gotta do that fall, can't you gather speed and CWJ from the lowest step of those 3, then in air diagonally shoot down to the floor and drop there morph in air and to the fall? You could manipulate the skree not to be in the way the only thing I can think of why this wouldn't work is probably hitting the ceiling thing or if you gather enough speed not to hit it the fall wouldn't work but has this been tested? And yeah I'll get onto that WIP.

Very nice run, really entertaining, I'm a bit unsure though about how optimal the route post ridley was (but I guess since you made it that quick you just went with what seemed good/entertaining), but either way it was very interesting. I do think that a time around 00:30-00:29 could be possible, considering that there is a significantly faster route pre ridley (and perhaps post ridley too, I don't know about that), and that there is a lot of time to gather from optimization (most noticeably the snail room in maridia). I also keep loving the stylistic choices you make, big kudos on that. I'll eagerly be awaiting too see what you and Taco can whip up in the end. And btw, where are you at this point?

Giant Sidehopperroom in Red Brinstar still, we were testing different things about the route. We will be able to continue now though (hopefully).

You can grapple up the snail room instead of using walljumps... I think that is what he is talking bout

You walljump all the way up there, but there are grapple blocks on the wall on the pillar to the right, it should be a lot faster to use those to get up considering that when I tested this in my SM:I run it was several seconds faster to use a snail to climb up the room, which in turn should be a lot slower than using grapple on those blocks (because it looks like grapple climbing like that is pretty fast, judging from the shaft a bit before draygon). I actually planned to do that first, but the setup takes about 4000 frames, so it's not worth it in the end.

If you shoot the snail/knock it off something, it will start speeding, making it impossible to do that trick.

If you can get it to go back to its normal speed.. -.- Tried forever, gotta re-do Maridia for that tube spark.. Gonna get 27 ingame easy!

Great run, Kriole. The biggest mistake was to fight Crocomire. That way you lose your ~1900 frame lead over my old RBO after Ridley, and end up being even around 1 whole minute slower when entering the big snail room the first time. It was very obvious that the Grapple Beam would never save the time it takes for the collection, so I'm somewhat surprised you still decided to do it. Another obvious route mistake was to enter WS the usual way. It's much faster to enter it backwards by using the Maridia elevator at the top east instead. It's also a bit faster to go through Red Brinstar/Crateria when heading to Tourian instead of Green Brinstar like you did. This runs exact completion time is 34,16 min. Skipping Crocomire would for sure allow you a 0:32 right there. Getting sub-0:30 with my route would be pretty hard though, but should be well possible with the improved Hero-route. Anyway, congrats on the first ever finished RBO TAS. It's for sure entertaining to watch and already shows a good amount of tricks no other run would be able to present.

I hope you are fully aware of the fact that I created this run for entertainment purposes, and as I already said in my post earlier, I don't want people badgering me for improvements. I guess it's ok for people to be poking fun at my ignorance, but itemcollection is totally out of question here. The route itself is incredibly ineffective with very much backtracking. Also, the Grapple Beam was a bit of an impulsive move, and I even pondered if I should have turned it into a 100% RBO run. But I wouldn't have the motivation for that anyways, given the fact that I'd have to revisit places I've already been to, just to pick up loose Missile Packs. I might create one eventually, but that will have to wait until all my major projects are finished. Then I will also have the time to fully optimize it (and plan, for that matter).

I did once, he was not very hard... But anyway, that reminds me. Save for ceres ridley and motherbrain it is actually possible to do a complete RBO, including minibosses. Going, Ridley - GT - Draygon - Botwoon - Phantoon - Crocmire - Kraid - Spore Spawn - Bomb Torizo. It only requires that really long botwoon skip, which also means early plasma is needed, but still. I don't think anyone should do this though... But you can at least :)

Just have one question, Kriole: Did you consider getting to the Wrecked Ship backwards? It seems to me that doing so would've been faster, considering that you were fairly close to the elevator after getting the Plasma Beam. I know you said the run was just for entertainment, but I'm curious.

I wasn't aware of any way of skipping botwoon. Is there an .smv of this?

I remember thinking of this long ago, unfortunately, I forgot in the process of making the smv. But I guess it's no biggie really.

2 ways, actually. 1 Saturn found that requires Gsuit: Beat Botwoon and escape his room before the wall completely comes down. If this happens, Botwoon is technically never killed. 2, get early plasma, and use some weird x-ray beam freezing thing that pushes you slowly forward in once of the rooms where the bugs fly up from the sand and fly towards you. I'll have Kriole scan M2K2 and the rest of the web until he finds it.

Botwoonskip Unfortunately I cannot remember the author, but Kejardon found the application. Forgot to mention that you need to hold right for a very long time after the smv finishes.

This is way beyond being good at a game. [EDIT] Apprently, his v2 completed in July was also a :31 realtime run, but it seems this time he's managed to save even more real time in this version?.. What was v2's realtime count?
