Which published run would the rest of you be most surprised to see an improvement of even a single frame in? SMB1 is an obvious choice, but I would have said that before the last two improvements, so I guess you can never be sure. Anyone care to weigh in?

Donkey Kong. Though how about we list several movies instead? Otherwise it will boil down to 5-6 inevitable titles.

Donkey Kong for sure, an improvement on that would be epic.

Along similar lines, Monopoly. Circus Charlie, too. And Dungeon Magic, for that matter. And then there's the category of "I don't expect to see improvements because I don't expect anyone to want to TAS this game again." Games include Castle of Dragon, Cobra Triangle, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, you can improve Donkey Kong but due to some frame rule, you can't.

He means that you can indeed save time in some places in the run, but these savings will be nullified by the frame rules in the game. For example, if you save 1 frame in the first level, it will take 1 more frame for level 2 to start. At least I think that's what he meant. :)

I'd might be most surprised to see an improvement to the quadrun. Not at all saying it's perfect... but who would want to improve it??

To be honest, I've pretty much stopped being surprised by improvements. After all,we've thought SMB1 was perfected, only for someone to discover a new trick, several times now. The Solstice movie has gone through more improvements than the modern car, and every single time it looks like it can't possibly be even 1 frame faster. And so on. Anyway, here's a list of games I consider unlikely to be improved upon: SMB1 SMB2 SMB3 Solstice Contra The Goonies The Legend of Zelda As well as a bunch of games that could probably be improved a frame or two, but it's unlikely that anyone will bother, like Gremlins 2, etc. Yes, I know that many of these are games that get improved regularly! But each time, it seems like further improvement is now impossible.

I'm fairly shocked you've mentioned it given can be improved by a few mins thanks to a new glitch.

Wow, you are optimistic. I would be VERY surprised if it saved 2 minutes... it's probably closer to one minute than 2 (not that I would mind if it turned out to be more). And it's not a new glitch... just a new application.

As far as I know, Pokemon yellow and Monopoly can be improved. (This submission was cancelled - atm I can't find the statement about possible improvements in Pokemon Yellow, but I'm sure it was said to be improvable by a few frames.)

yes, maybe, I'm just a bit lazy to put all my files together (got severely scrambled when i moved to a new pc). I had like 5 frames but the random encounter was missing and was forced to search on the high values (8,9,etc) which now I can, I'm optimistic there's at least 1 frame waiting there.

Combatribes - That game sucks in real-time. Who would spend time in slow motion playing it? The quad-run. I've had nightmares that were more enjoyable than doing that run (most-likely) was.

What about Kung Fu for NES? It was published 3 years ago, and it seems like a frame-perfect game.

I'll add Mike Tyson's Punch-out and Super Punch-out to the list. (At the risk of looking egotistical).

Punch out is a good call. I looked in to doing an improvement there after getting the same game-clock time as the current run on glass joe, but I rapidly realized why that was, and just how tight the current run is. Also, I would put lagoon in the "I can't imagine what would possess anyone to bother" category.

I seem to remember AngerFist saying he was going to improve Kung Fu...don't know how that went... Anyway, movies I don't think are improvable (that haven't been mentioned): Atlantis No Nazo by Vatchern Castlevania by Phil and Morrison Castlevania HOD glitched by klmz Karate Kid by Nitsuja

Doesn't the current Castlevania movie sacrifice time in order to get a higher score? Karate Kid. while short. Is a highly complex game. There is countless delays, timings of attacks and jumps to test. All in the name of seeing if you can get better luck manipulation.

I doubt that the River City Ransom playaround will get a publishable improvement any time soon. :P
