if you have any maps or plans, i would greatly appreciate them, cause i am going off my mind and the help of a walkthrough, and frankly, its quite hard since i don't remember all the events in the game or where every little thing is located, so i am rerecording alot.
check the early posts in this thread for maps and route.

YEAH!!! I did it, first part of the video is complete!!! From the beggining to the Pyramid of Power, now i can screw around with the dark world. Wow thats alot of work. Ok, so here is the scoop, since it desyncs soo many times, about 5 or 6 times in the video, link will do something random but will not effect the gameplay, like i noticed he picked up a bush for no reason lol. Anyways, i am finally done the first part, so i hope everyone enjoys it. Oh and i almost forgot, the rom file is Legend of Zelda, The (E) http://www.filespace.org/Culden/Zelda_3_-_1._Beggining_to_Pyramid_of_Power Hope everyone finds it at least interesting, i know i made many mistakes and all that jazz, i would like some constructive critisism, but don't expect me to do a second run anytime in the near future, cause it was just too much of a pain in the ass. I will complete this run, and i will make the movie last every 2 dungeons. After i complete 2 dungeons, i will stop the movie and record from the start and do the next 2 dungeons, doing the light world in 1 run was really time consuming. This will be easier.

I think you need to link the acual file, rather then a link to add a file. Which asks me to log in as you. Edit: Much better.

Heh, it desyncs for me before he even gets out of bed. Although this just might be a me only thing, as it desynced for me in FF6 for no reason too. (Yes I tried read-only and redownloading the file)

OK, well, I started watching it but I quickly stopped. I guess you're just playing it for the hell of it? I can't offer constructive criticism because, so far as I can tell, you have no particular goal in playing this game. You certainly are in no particular hurry and you're not using re-records to correct any mistakes. Also, for the record, submissions should begin from reset, not from a savestate. That includes inputting your name. Also, unless it is totally unusable, you should use an American or Japanese version of the game rather than a European version because the latter will run awkwardly fast.

I will not be doing a serious run of this game until there is something that will fix the desync, it is very hard to try and get the game not to desync, you must have tried the game at least right, i mean with all the desyncing, link will do some movements that i did not do in the movie, and i left them there because i tried very many times to try and get it not to look like that, I spent countless hours trying to fix the desyncs Also there is a goal here, 100% run, i didn't say anything about a speedrun or timeattack. I am trying to make it look entertaining as hard as it is. I also stated that i will not be submitting this run because i knew it was not good enough, this is simply just to show that we can get past all those desyncing games. I am trying man, but if you read my previous posts, you should know to expect some mediocre run. If you want it done perfectly, you give it a try. Maybe i should just quit until they find a way to fix the desync. Just wanted to try and get this going again. Alot of people want to see a run but no one except TSA is doing it because it desyncs far too much.

I actually watched the entire movie. Here are some thoughts: First boss: Time better, be more agressive, the last one can be timed so that you hit as it hoovers above you. Second boss: Can also be hit with the arrows. Good if the distance is greater than the sword can reach. Missed shots Take detours to picup unneccary items such as hearts that drops from enemies. Inaccurate navigation. Bad route. Try to work out a better one. Fights against enemies that you can walk past instead. Not optimal with the running shoes. Fighting cowardly. Move in closer to kill enemies faster. Charging the sword is not optimal always. Move closer to Ganon in order to kill him faster. Text scrolling could/should be faster.

While you're obviously free to make a non speed-oriented walkthrough run if you want to, I can't help but feel that this is a maybe not the entirely right forum. Everyone expects speed here, it's what the site is here for. . . . Zelda pop! . . .

at the moment, a time attack even remotely close to perfect of this game would be incredibly difficult, and for a few very good reasons. The route we planned out is decent, but it only scratches the surface because we haven't discussed dungeon routes nor explored any possible shortcut tricks within them. There's the complex drop system which the player needs to try to control, and the issue of what glitches to use. This on top of the fact that this game is quite long and to make matters worse, can dysync at any time. If you can make a complete run of this game without any dysyncs, that would be impressive on its own. But since you're not aiming for speed or perfection in your run, I'm not sure what criticisms I can offer.

Exactly my point. I didn't want to sound like a dick but I don't know how "constructive" I can be when this appears slower than an unassisted speedrun.

I don't think he's looking for criticisms- I think he's just doing it for himself, for fun, and offered his run up for anyone that wanted to see it.

Blechy got it right dude, i just want to show that the game can be done even with the desyncs, just for entertainment. Entertainment doesn't have to mean perfect in every way shape and form IMO. But i do understand that this is a forums to make speed runs, so i am in the wrong there, but still i explained many times, actually n almost all my posts that it looks like shit compared to the runs on this site. Would people still be interested in seeing the dark world done? Perhaps this run can be used to work out your routes and stuff. Might come in handy in the future... If no one wants to see it then i will stop and delete the light world run.

can you improve upon the current dark world route in this thread? If not I'd still be interested in seeing how it would play out, what routes you'd use in the dungeons, how you'd utilize your weapons etc. It'll give an estimate of how long this route would take approximately. Will probably be a pain to make though; only do it if you're not prone to stress-induced heart attacks.

If it's just any normal play through I don't think people will be interested, but as Deviance mentioned, if you have good ideas for strategies or routes, or if there are some cool tricks you want to demonstrate, then go right ahead.

If it's possible to finish the game without desync, how come you have patience enough to explore that, but not patience enough to go on and make a real time attack? To me it's very sad how you just waste that newly discovered trick to get around the desync without pulling of this with glance! How ever I would still watch your dark world run.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone try a perfect run of this game without planning virtually everything in advance. One of us should pick up on a time attack of this game during the holidays. It would take the same team effort as in LoZ and DKC to get this one done but I think we can do it. Dysync would still be the greatest enemy.

maybe instead he could make small smvs demonstrating each trick instead of an entire run of the game?

Hmm, thats a good point Highness, but the thing is, i wasn't entirely sure i could actually get past the desyncing problem until i beat the second boss, and it literally took me a day an a half to work on it...(I had 5 days off to mess around) So when i beat him, i actually did think of doing a perfect run, which is why i asked for the maps and stuff, but i think i should finish this not entirely so shitty run first, cause really you never know if there is an even bigger desyncing problem later in the game. So this can be considered a test. Maybe after this run we could all plan a much better route, but im gonna be doing a perfect 100% run. I would rather see a 100% run than a normal speed run, more intersting IMO. Sound like a plan? Oh, and i don't have that much patience...quite a bit of serious anger was involved in this run. ^-^ No small animals were endangered though.

I don't see why it shoulden't be allowed. So for my input, YES - Reset is OK. And coulden - It's more impressive to finish the game with a low percentage of items instead of having 20 heart containers. I mean.. If you play the game on actual SNES and have all items, you are almost godlike, unless you really really really suck at playing. A pure time attack with only the necessary set of items would be more interesting.

soft reset should be allowed because it is in the instruction manual, and yes, getting heart containers, armor like the blue mail, and extra items in a real run is useless because you won't need them. The items you get in a real run are interesting items anyway.

Ok, after this run is complete, i will start thinking up a route for a pure speedrun then. I still think a 100% run is more entertaining though, just to know how to get everything is entertaining, but i guess this run could be considered more of a video walkthrough than a run.

TSA: Two times a day? I play it approximatly 2 times a year and last time when I finshed it in 3hr 30min (without saving/loading) I was impressed with myself... looks like it's going to be hell of a movie. Hope it will come out in video-format soon.
