Can't wait... Hoping to download these into a format that I don't need to sit through 50 minutes of already seen footage to watch... will have a go with bkDJ's links tomorrow.

Kow: That's why you should make save states while watching =P. But yeah, I prefer an encode as well.

This is an epic run, so far. Sami, sorry to sound rude, but what is your plan for the Trivia Quiz part?

Is it possible to jump off of a mini game/trivia platform square without triggering the event, much like how you skipped Bottle's speech in Spiral Mountain? If not, it may also be wise to each time a mini game is complete, to jump to the next farthest one you can reach, or skip as many long mini games as possible.

My memory is kind of fuzzy but I think i remember that you are not able to jump on unanswered squares (because 'A' triggers the question) and that, until the quiz is over, there are invisible walls surrounding the walkway which prevent you from accidentally dying and purposefully skipping around.

There are also invisible walls above tiles you haven't unlocked yet, so skipping tiles by jumping over them is also out of the question

It could be worth taking a detour over to a Joker space to be able to skip some of the timed mini-game challenges, as long as there are no mini-games in the way of the Joker.

At least one is accessible without, marshmallow used it. I think the others all have minigames in the way though - also, gamefaq's map of the board is incorrect in some squares. Been a while so I don't remember exactly which, but felt it bore mentioning.

Thanks for letting me know, because I was just about to try doodling some routes on that GameFAQs map. Now I just wish I knew whether you can skip or speed up the questions in that game, because that would affect whether or not it's worth answering a few more to avoid even the quickest mini-game. EDIT: And here's the GameFAQs map as well as another map I found on some old Angelfire site. I noticed the first map has a bunch of Clock squares where the second map has Visual, so we'll want to check those for sure. EDIT AGAIN: And the second map's missing three whole squares in the middle. Brilliant. It looks like the second map is right about those squares being Visual, though. I guess the first mapmaker couldn't tell eyes from clocks.

Hold up, I'll load up the game and map this out.

[note: possibly subject to human memory errors] You can interrupt Grunty at any time stopping the question typing No, wait, that's Tooie's Tower of Terror Quiz. *pulls up marshmallow's SS run* He takes the joker on the left: UULLLLRRUUULUUUUULLUUURRRRUURU. You can still use the standard "speed up talking" by holding button (A?) at the least. The first joker's worth taking obviously- one question is much less than the two minutes saved on minigames. Whether it's worth answering four additional questions (top left) *returns from downstairs* Here, have a freshly sketched, converted to unicode map:
     Finish

       S
ISx SABxIΩSSΩ
J B B S
  AAx♫δ S
  I I S
  B xBSI♫δBx
x♫δ♫S S ♫AJ
♫ I A I
x ABxBδ♫IABI
AIB♫S x
x x S
J AδxBδIB♫AB
     B x B
     I B J
ΩSJx♫BxA
       I
       B

     Begin

I: Visual question
S: Death question
A: Witch question
B: B-K square, general question
♫: Music/voice question
Ω: 1up statue, no question
x: honeycomb, no question
δ: Timed minigame!
J: Joker: Answering question yields two jokerskip cards.
visual and music questions will take a bit longer because you must look/listen before you're allowed to pick an answer, consider. edit: invisible walls to keep you on track are there after you've finished Furnace Fun too, btw. But you can freely roam the board (and get easy extra lives should that be your aim) edit: I know you can speed up talking because marshmallow did it. I don't have any saves at a point that can play Furnace Fun- a pity because I thought it was the high point. (Lack of boss refight also was something I didn't like...)

keyboard>mouse But it's good to have independent verification- now we have two maps that agree. ...Actually, you got a square wrong- fourth row, column seven(junction down, left, downdown from last square) should be a timer, not a honeycomb. edit: all other squares on our two maps agree.

Depending on how much extra time the stopwatches take, the best routes look like: 1)Go left at the first fork and grab the first joker, then backtrack once and head north. Go to the exit by the most direct route (actually, there are 2 routes of the same length.) Result:22 puzzle squares, 2 of which are timed. 2)Grab the joker on the left, then head straight to the joker in the bottom right corner. Continue along the right hand path, grabbing a third joker if necessary, and burn a joker on each stopwatch, plus possibly the two other most time-consuming squares if you grabbed the third joker. Result: 26 puzzle squares, none of which are timed.

Could someone upload a savestate outside Furnace Fun for my leisure testing pleasure. My other options include beating the game or holding tab on a movie for half an hour EDIT: I would have figured someone already had a savestate (that would take like 45 seconds to upload) after all of the discussion.

JSmith: Each joker square allows you to skip two, not one. edit: Kirkq: No can do, I haven't got an emu for it- I used cart and console.

You do realize that your first option requires an equal, more likely GREATER effort for others than it does for you? Fast forwarding through Sami's WIP should take under 40ish minutes. Then just play the rest of the stages until you get there. While you're at it, can you do my laundry for me before I go back home for winter break? Or, my other option is to do the laundry myself.* *this is why I hate people who ask others to make savestates for them; it's almost always easiest to make them yourself.

Or, use the notedoor etc. sandcastle cheatcodes and save bundles of time over other options.

Constructive solution much appreciated. Realize that I was not asking anyone to spend half an hour to make me a savestate. I would've thought after all of the discussion that someone had one available, which apparently was not the case.

Here you go: http://drop.io/3gdsasd BK-JustOutsideFurnaceFun.zip = The one just outside Furnace Fun (haven't played it at all yet) BK-FurnaceFunSave.zip = Completed Furnace Fun Also, I fixed the "second map" above that was missing tiles and doublechecked with the game for correctness:
