No point in re-station how awesome crank is, or telling people that fightclub is worth the time, what movies managed to slip through the cracks but still rock socks? CUBE! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/ sometimes referred to as a cult classic, but that is just code for unpopular but still bad ass. anyone else have any suggestions?

That movie is.... really old. Alright then. I'll put "The Adventures of Mark Twain" (1986) which is simply staggeringly amazing and one of my favorite movies ever. In fact, it's so good I have to be careful not to accidentally think about it, because if I do, I become obsessed and MUST watch it within a few weeks. If you liked Fightclub, you may also want to check (if you haven't seen them) Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Another movie which requires a bit of paying attention to not to get lost is Memento. You should also check 12 monkeys.

That movie was pretty bad ass. I had a movie night with a few friends an someone brought it up, so we rented that and the sequel. Cube was great, but the sequel was just plain stupid and didn't make any sense (on top of the fact that they tried to do computer generated death scenes that appeared to have been done in Windows Paintbrush). We actually ran out after the first one was over to grab the second hoping to find out what happened afterwards but unfortunately it wasn't even related story-wise to the original.

Actually, there are 3 Cube movies (as far as I know). Cube, Cube 2: Hypercube, and Cube Zero. Cube Zero is probably what you were looking for (what happens after someone gets out of the cube). It's not the same thing as Cube though (as in, don't expect the same "you only see what happens inside the cube"). I don't want to say too much as I don't want to ruin the plot for you, but I highly recommend you watch Cube Zero if you liked Cube.

Ten Canoes - This is hilarious and very easily missed. Brazil - This was hilarious too and I had never heard of it until I saw it a few days ago.

I did see the sequels as well, and I kinda liked both of them, but neither really lived up to the original in my eyes (squeals rarely do). I would say they are worth the time, but its not really anything you will be raving about. I think I have to check out 12 monkeys, that is the third time its been recommended to me, so I guess its time to check it out.

All the movies Warp suggested are great (although I don't really know if they are unknown). Either way, I created a thread (movie top 10 thread) for the same purpose some time ago (finding a good movie I hadn't seen/missed). The movie that I 'discovered' there was Primer. Short movie with time traveling. Very complicated, but very great :).

Ah, yes. Primer. It is probably the most "plausible" time travel movie I have seen. What's awesome about it is that there is absolutely no dumbing down whatsoever. The movie just assumes you are a genius, smart enough to understand what's going on. Which is awesome and refreshing.

I once watched Primer because so many people had recommended it (as a definitely-not-dumbed-down-for-the-masses kind of movie). I must admit that I understood nothing of the movie. Nada. Zero. Nil. It was boring. I suppose I wasn't really paying attention to it. Maybe I should try it again sometime, and this time really try to pay attention and understand what's going on.

Or you can get the DVD which plays the whole thing in reverse chronological order as a special feature. Kills the point of the movie (and the genius behind it), but it makes it somewhat more understandable.
Super Mario 64 TASes and stuff.

Embarrassingly enough, I *haven't* seen any of them, even though all are well-known. Anyway, I recommend the eye-opening documentary on Al-Jazeera and the reporting of the early phases of the invasion of Iraq: Control Room. I thought Red Planet was kinda meh. I didn't regret seeing it, but it was totally forgettable popcorn entertainment. Sunshine was surprisingly good, until the ending, which sucked balls. I can't fathom how any human being on Earth could like the movie THX 1138. It was just unspeakably boring and mind-numbing. It also never ends. The movie will go on and on forever until you either turn it off or fall asleep watching it. Maybe I should give it another chance, because it did have some good moments. But mostly it was just .... stuff happening, stuff you had no inclination to care about nor any desire to see what would happen next. But really now. It is absolutely the most underrated movie on IMDB, ever. It should be in the top #5.

I saw Resident Evil: Degeneration at New Year's, and it was a good watch, even considering I don't really follow the games' storyline.
