Of course I'll credit the authors of the run, I just know that some people don't have bit torrent, and are not willing to download files simply to view a speedrun. I really liked the obsolete Sonic 3 and Knuckles run, and I really want to see the current run, but can't because it will not work for some reason. However, the mirror from archive.org is there, so I downloaded that. Maybe I could help by putting the run on Youtube, so other viewers do not have to go through the same trouble as I did. Thanks in return.

As long as you explain clearly who made the run and that is is a TAS, as well as making sure it isn't already uploaded to youtube, I think most poeple would be okay with it. It still might be best to pm and ask the author of the movie about it before doing it though.

As long as it's not uploaded in seperate segments.

Okay, thanks. It will probably take a while to upload though. It's a lengthy video.

I second this. Which means that you need a pre-2006 director account, or you will be limited at 10 minutes and 59 seconds. By searching on Youtube I found this guy, who is hosting some speedruns (I checked, some are new, some are obsoleted). Perhaps you can coordinate the efforts?

Well that's up to the author isn't it? If that was his only option I know I wouldn't care about it.

I'm guessing you just mean to say that you prefer not having to watch multiple segments, rather than saying it's "not okay" otherwise. In any case, I think we should upload our runs on services like YouTube because of their popularity. A lot more people will watch the runs on this site if they're just one click away. YouTube is just one of the possibilities. You might want to consider using a service that doesn't have an 11 minute limit.

And make sure that any unpleasant comments that appear such as insults to the author or TASing as a whole, make sure that comment gets deleted and those guys will be banned from the video, or was it just commenting?

Nice. You guys caught onto my research. I tried testing with a late youtube account by making a 13:37 video to see if that would pass through. No dice. However, look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kkUajLf1lQ That guy registered in 2007.

That's a rather intolerant attitude. You're going to censor people just because you don't agree with them?

Unless the real author has uploaded the video to his/her channel, I guess it's okay (at least for my videos, though all of mine are already on the tube).

More because they can't articulate anything without using words like "shitcock", I think.

a partner account can upload videos longer then 10 mins http://www.youtube.com/partners apparently it's hard to become one. They seem to have at least 70k subscribers so I wouldn't bother applying unless you get close to that.

I always try to explain as clearly as I can why they are wrong instead of deleting their comments. I think it is more useful for people reading the comments who perhaps don't have a perfectly clear idea of what a TAS is.

Can I ask you how you could upload a long video with your account? I'd like to know if I can do the same, the 10:59 limit irritates me a lot. Also, I forgot to mention, but archive.org also provides video streams in the same fashion as Youtube (embeddable, too). And the S3&K run was uploaded by me long ago, my memory fails :( You can watch it from this page.

If I understand correctly, all 2006 accounts that are Director can upload over 11 minutes. For an example, my pohger account was registered in 2006 but is not a director. Therefore, I can't upload over ten minutes on that account. I lucked out because my cranium account is all I have to upload long videos. On the plus side, there is a way to upload over ten minutes if you don't already have the ability, and that is through being a partner on Youtube.

I'm guessing I shouldn't apply for Partner status when all my videos consist entirely of badly edited footage from other shows.

Personally, if a run goes for longer than 10 minutes, just convert the video to AVI (If needed) and upload it to video google. It is what I did with various runs.

As long as you don't upload any of my work (or anyone else's work who doesn't want it uploaded), I don't care. You should always get permission from the author before doing it. It's just rude otherwise.
