I have a problem with fba 003. It says that my neogeo bios rom has an invalid checksum, but it worked fine in fba 001 (just like it works fine in my mame). Any suggestions? edit: actually, it says that even my overtop rom is broken. Which is... weird, since it worked fine in 001 as well.

It uses the ROM sets from MAME 0.131u3.
You need to get the newest ROMs.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Thanks, I wonder why mame team keeps on changing roms when the old ones worked just fine, though. Now to find the new versions, since all I can find are the old ones :\ edit: found new neogeo.zip and new overtop.zip But the run I recorded with 001 doesn't sync. I'm giving up.

Why do you care about that? People still submit movies made with FCEU .13 or .15, even though there are more than 20 new versions of that emulator. v0.0.1 (or 2) was the version approved for submissions; I only updated it because there were a lot of new games in the new official version, and maybe there are some bug fixes too...

How come 0.0.1 was approved for submission? Last time I checked, it was "close", but not accepted:

Otherwise this emulator seems to be close to accepting, yes.
There were no news after that, but then today I saw that arcade submission in the Workbench and I thought it was related to the update to 0.0.3 If only I knew, I would have submitted my run 9 months ago :\ Not a big deal, I might redo it anyway and make it better (see relevant thread since I don't want to derail this one). Thanks again for your reply.

I'm kinda confused as to why the Emulator only seems to support SOME versions of roms, and doesn't even list some of them. Because of which, I can't play the versions of D&D: SOM, D&D: TOD, X-Men, The Simpsons or Gauntlet I have.

chances are you just need to rename it. It gets very complicated sometimes with arcade games. Just look at what roms your missing in the zip and if your not missing anything rename it to what it thinks it should be called. Chances are it will have the same checksum.

I think Gauntlet isn't supported at all, unless it's listed under a different name. I couldn't find it though.

Looking good. Compatibility's a little short and I can't seem to redefine various hotkeys, but I'm quite impressed with what I see. Once I can define hotkeys to my liking, I might start up Willow or something.

Well, that'll fix the problem for two of the games, but I still can't play the original X-Men game or The Simpsons. Those would probably be a couple of the more fun games that would make for entertaining TASes.

Kitsune, I just tried to download the ROM of "The Simpsons (4 Players World, set 1)", and it works fine for me. edit: and "X-Men (4 Players ver UBB)" works too. Maybe you should look for your roms on a different website, though I can't point you in the right direction, I'm sorry.

http://fbarr.googlecode.com/files/fba-rr-v003a.7z -I forgot to re-arrange menu items in v0.0.3, that's been fixed now -Added configurable hotkeys -FBA-RR won't unpause automatically anymore after the DIP switches config or a movie start

:D Can't assign things to just the shift key, but this is definitely workable. I'll get something going once Ardy's done. (also, when I set the hotkeys, I had to quit the emulator before any hotkeys would respond)

I didn't have v3 of the Emulator yet, so that was part of my problem. I hope we get one that supports The Real Ghostbusters soon, though. :3

Question. How do I hex edit a movie file? Apparently it's compressed :( edit: nevermind, I redid the whole movie from scratch, it got one second faster.

Setting "save current slot" or "load current slot" to E or Q doesn't seem to do anything. edit: Also, it seemed to reset all input configs when I hit record movie from power on. edit#2: when using frame advance at 5% speed the emulator just closed after about 40 frames holding the frame advance button (that was set to \) Input doesn't seem to register when in frame advance mode. You gotta hold the button, advance the frame and then unpause. That won't be practical. All in all though good work, I hope it's more polished soon!

One thing that I'm more worried about, to be honest, is that some Neo Geo games can have access to the system time (technically they all can, you can see that by pressing F2 to go into maintenance mode, there are time and date information at the bottom, the date isn't y2k-friendly but it's correct). I wonder if there is any game that effectively uses the time to alter the RNG thus making it not TASable.

I don't know why, but when i try to make a TAS in this emulator (FBARR v0.0.3) there is a lot, i mean A LOT of desyncs for me, even the movies that i make in FBARR v0.0.2 desyncs in this emulator... and the in FBARR v0.0.2 works fine for me, desync is rare in this emulator for me... I am making a TAS, i don't know if it will be accepted in this site, because I am using the FBARR v0.0.2, and the japanese version of the run (yeah, i am using the japanese version because of the desyncs that i had with the american version, and my computer isn't that good and fast, i think that is the reason of these constants desyncs in this emulator and the american version of the ROM)

There's been a bunch of crashing in FBA v0.0.3.01, like whenever I do various functions. There is another planned attempt at TAS'ing Blue's Journey in the works, but I can't work without a damn "Guru Meditation" error in my face!

I'll take a look at that later. I don't even use that function myself.

I don't know. Maybe the option Dromiceius changed to ignore SRAM, also ignores input config?

Changing the speed (to 5% or whatever) is absolutely broken. blip added this functionality in the most possibly hackish way, and it should be disabled if there's ever another version of FBA-RR.

In v0.0.3 most drivers have been rewritten a lot since v0.0.2, especially the savestate handling, so it's possible that there are games that work worse than before or games that work better now. Also, it's always helpful to know which game you're testing. FBA is something like ~1000 different emulators in one.

Yes, it should be. v0.0.3 was released _after_ the emulator was accepted in this site...

To reiterate something I said in the Willow topic: Saving and loading states while playing/recording a movie seem to have been disabled in the newest release. This is the biggest issue with it. It worked fine in the previous release. Other minor quibbles: Auto-pause doesn't work. Custom input maps don't get saved. Can't set a hotkey to just the shift or control keys. These must be in conjunction with something else. Thank you for your efforts so far.

The reason for both problems (as far as I can tell; I can't actually run the program) is that you patched over "nConfigMinVersion" so that the emulator thinks all config files are outdated and ignores them.

Well, I tested Street Fighter Alpha 3 (980904), Street Fighter Alpha 3 (980629), Street Fighter Zero 3 (980904), Street Fighter Zero 3 (980727), Street Fighter Zero 3 (980629) and Super Street Fighter II X (940223)... I have desynch problem with these games in fbarr 0.0.3, and in fbarr 0.0.2, of these games, only Street Fighter Zero 3 (980629) and Super Street Fighter II X (940223) works fine for me with no desynchs... I only tested the emulator with these game listed below. And thanks for the help :)

Oops, I see. Thanks for finding that. I've uploaded a new build with that fix: fba-rr-v003b.7z. I'll try to work on the other issues when I have more free time.
