Edit: I found a big improvement, and saved 21 frames in 8-2, also changed some place. The new movie is arriving.
Edit2: I haven't found adelikat, but I have already sent him a message. See here if the movie didn't come:

This is the real Super Mario Bros 2. It was never officially released in the USA and Europe. It was later ported to SNES, and released as "Lost Levels" on Super Mario All-stars.
This movie is an 67 88 frames improvement over the published movie by klmz. It took me only 2 weeks to finish this one. The improvement comes from perfecting details, they're not as great as my "Moonwalk" action, but it's still a powerful movie.
This movie has few amazing improvements, but it does have solved 3 4 problems have never solved before:
  • Getting the max speed as soon as possible after getting the mushroom in 4-1;
  • Finishing the Bowser fight as soon as possible in 4-4;
  • Jumping over the highest wall perfectly in 5-1.
  • Using the vine perfectly in 8-2
So this movie does have meanings in some ways. To improve the entertainment in this movie, I did less annoying jumps, killed enemys in different ways, choised better ways to run. I didn't do the graphical glitch in 8-2 either, because I didn't want the level in my movie become a mess.

Improvements list

1-1 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch.
1-2 3 frames faster at the first solid wall, 1 frame was lost at entering the pipe for some reasons, 2 frames faster by better wall-entry and turning. 4 frame gained in this level.
4-1 6 frames faster by better mushroom-eating. Saved 21 frames.
4-2 1 frame faster by better flower-eating, 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch. 2 frames faster by better flower-eating. Because of the terrible randomness in this level, it will send out 3 fireworks if the last number of the time goes "5", so I wasted 9 frames before the flagpole to get a "4". I won't make it if I didn't get 2 frames by better flagpole glitch. This situation wasn't appeared in the movie of klmz, unfortunately, I got a bad randomness again in 8-2, it was totally a bad luck ;( I've found that it wasn't a bad randomness, thanks to Mr. Pwnage and Phil for reminding me of this one. So I changed the way to get coins in this level, lost 1 frame on flower-eating, it was worth it.
4-4 7 frames gained from a better way to kill Bowser. Saved 21 frames.
5-1 17 frames faster at the highest wall by using a walljump instead of walking through it, 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch. Saved 21 frames.
5-2 1 frame faster by better turning at the warp-zone.
8-1 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch.
8-2 2 6 frame gained from climbing the vine, 8 frames faster by using vine glitch (found by myself last year), and 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch. Saved 21 frames. because the bad randomness, I had to waste 4 frames climbing that vine, otherwise it would send out 6 fireworks.
8-3 1 frame faster at the balanced lift, 1 frame gained from a better flagpole glitch.
8-4 1 frame was saved at the first stage by better speeding up, 1 frame was saved at the water stage by better wall-passing, 1 frame was saved at the third stage by better speeding up, the final frame was saved at the forth stage also by better speeding up.
21+21+21+21+1+1+1+1=88
Thanks to klmz and Phil for working hard on this one, also, thanks to SuperSunMario (Chinese) for helping me a little.
Hope you like the new movie!

mmbossman: Replaced the input file at the author's request; the new movie is now 21 frames faster.
mmbossman: Also, accepting. Nice improvement HappyLee!

Raiscan: Processing.

HappyLee: Editing once more to correct my counting mistake. The movie is actually 88 frames faster.

That was awesome! I love the pipe glitch in 5-2 -- truly a WTF moment. I also like how Mario plays with the buzzy beetle shell while he's running in 8-4. Just excellent. Easy Yes vote.

I've seen this movie many times. Perhaps it's possible to perform a vine-glitch in this game as it would be similar to SMB1? No matter what, entertainment is mainly the reason I vote Yes.

The vines behave oddly sometimes. Sometimes getting the vine to warp you rightwards is actually impossible, and when it is possible, the flagpole vine glitch won't work just because of the level setup. You do these glitches, hit the flagpole and then die. I always wondered if there was some glitch you could do while behind the flagpole. I'm thinking that something else could be possible as I doubt anyone has really looked into jumping over a flagpole and hitting the flagpole from the right side. Just a thought.

I did lots of serveys about the vine glitch and the flagpole before, and I know something interesting that nobody ever knows. I would share them to you if I could speak English better. Here is a interesting one: If you catch the flagpole and die(falling into the hole), use speed up, you will get to the next level after a while.

Yeah, I noticed that for that 5-2 failed vine glitch. As for this run, yes vote for sure, looked great!

This will be my final encode revision. To those of you using the VLC player, I only recently had it brought to my attention that there is issues with trying to jump to a different area of the video. I had not noticed these issues as I used Windows Media Player, anyway, try not to jump around different points of the video, it isn't that hard to sit through 10 seconds of BIOS. Anyway, anyone that can help me with this, either I'm contacting you or you contact me.

Try opening it with a proxy, I'm uploading it to archive.org anyway, in hope that works (I hate its uploading system, but adelikat loves it for some reason). Archived.

The true amazing improvement is that you exploited the frame rule of the mushroom spawn in 4-1 in order to maintain your momentum. 4-4 is due to your better luck with the boss than mine (he was jumping to the worse direction for me), which is likely to depend on an in-game timer. So it was actually your 4-1 improvement that saved time here. The wall jump in 5-1 has been expected for a long time. However, I'd like to make clear that, in fact, you didn't gain any 1-frame with "a better flagpole glitch/whatever", but instead you gained most of them thanks to the new acceleration trick carried over from smb1, for which you should give credit to me specially ;)
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

Looking over the run one more time, I wonder if you could use the shell for a flagpole glitch at the end of level 8-3. The shells bounce Mario differently, so I kinda doubt it'd work.

I don't think so, I had a bad luck at Bowser fight for the first time, but then I wasted 1 frame before meeting Bowser, he got normal. I supposed I can even win 21 frames with your randomness.

No you can't. I have also tried other strange stuff, they didn't work.

How about jumping through the wall in 8-4 in order to get down that pipe faster (the part right after the water section in 8-4). The way you do it is very fast, so I doubt that would work either, however I think it's worth testing. I tried to do it and failed. I'm not very good at TASing.

Congratulations for the nice run! Painful position when climbing the vine? lol Mario looks happy, though :) Just out of curiousity: why u always use the mushroom and flower on smb2j runs? Isn't there any possibility to finish the game faster being small mario?

Getting the mushroom and flower lets you kill Bowser with fireballs, saving you from having to watch the bridge deconstruct when you get the axe at the end of the castle level(s).
