I started to think about making a better route months ago linkmore link
In the end it wasnt a bad idea i guess, the main point is to avoid the library-colosseum-library trip, proceed directly to clock tower and inverted castle
To achieve this whe had to swap 2 relics, bat is traded for double jump, mist for fairy, extra gears was also acquired, a "trust" sword (allow to "fly" with wolf) and the masamune (high pwnage sword)
After countless mistake and problems, i decided to release this because im somewhat happy of the result
I believe this movie is improvable, but its already an improvement, need to start somewhere to make things move so i think its not a big deal to post it
In term of frames, i think maybe up to 300/400 (at the best and ideal conditions) can be saved if you feel enought nerdy to take upon that game
Those few frames to save are going to be nightmare tought, everybody (including me) is warned.
Sorry for small submision text, ill complete it later, time for some rest right now

Tricks & Glitchs

Oho, some redaction needed here!

amazing run, just one question, when you do big damage boost, sometime you hit the wall instead of simply get thrown in the other room, is it on purpose ? also, shouldn't the "use a code to change stats" objective be added to the description as you use the "X-X!V''Q" code ? (also could manipulating a slower richter fight give low enought stat with alucard to not have to use the code ?) oh and can you get the item to show enemies HP, i'm curious to see how much damage the medusa shield actualy does :)

Hitting a wall is necessary for some of the shiftlines. That's the stuff that lets you crawl outside the screen. The stats don't go low enough on a regular file. Luck Mode is required for such low HP and defense. And the enemy HP item that I forget the name of is very far out of the way.

For clarification: Luck Mode starts you with 25HP, 1STR, 1CON, and 99LCK. I don't know what the worst you can do in normal mode is (all of the discussion I found was for what you can get with good times), but one listed example is 70HP, 7STR, 6CON, 6LCK. The massively increased hitpoints and CON make it much harder to pull off Big Tosses, which only occur when you take more than half your hitpoints in damage. You also wouldn't be able to do the Flea Rider climb with such high strength.

^ this is right I can only mention that in this run, up to the fleaman... so for the whole normal castle... any extra kill ruin it totaly... ANY for instance, start-boss1 = lvl2 , boss1-library = lvl3 , library-clock tower = lvl4 If you raise any of this, you void run For boss1 you need to be lvl2, because thats the only way to get invulnerability with Summon Spirit spell Book in library give 13 damage (under poison) so the max HP is 26 (lvl2) Flying skull in clock tower give 14 damage, so the max HP is 28 (lvl3) (those damage are at 0 DEF, 10 CON = 1DEF, just saying for reference) Whe get lvl4 in clock tower, mainly because whe need the sword (to fly with wolf later) and to adjust ourself so next kill = level up when whe face flea rider Killing any boss also void the run, youll notice life max up does spawn after we kill em, but, whe dont get any level up from them Actually, after masamune, everything get much more clean, have good stack of exp from medusa, so i can kill anybody on the way, and no more (geek) restrictions on hp Ah, i will mention here also that getting a potion in the prologue sound bad, it need you to get pwned by dracula and make maria summon manimals (loose many time)

I decided to leave it as it is. As you know that is the least important mistake in the run, and fixing only that won't make me happy. Also you said you'd finish it all by yourself, so it must be good enough since you've submitted it and therefore you believe it can be published as it is.

Umm... let's not get angry here, people. I gotta say, I really like this run, and it is an improvement to the current published movie. If all you're going to work on is to see whether you can beat Dracula with 2 casts, then why not leave this in the submission queue for now? I would imagine that the judges aren't in a hurry to give a verdict on this submission. If you end up discovering a better final boss fight, then this can be updated with a PM, and if not, we've still got a good run. Basically, I would suggest that you don't cancel this unless you're certain that you're going to make a completely redone run. It would be a shame to cancel this, not get any improvements done, and have this run lost to the Grue.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. how can I be wrong? Was I wrong when I didn't specify a deadline? I have all the time in the world to make it as close to perfection as possible, and you guys can see that clearly, especially looking at everything regarding luck manipulation before Clock Tower. Of course, if one redoes it, it's possible to improve it even a little more, though it will look like a copy since most of the stuff is optimized to the extreme. I told you already I wouldn't want it here like this because I wouldn't submit an unfinished work... it's not like someone would die without the run. But since the whole idea/route was yours, I couldn't stop you. Now please explain HOW can I be wrong.

If this here is a flawless top-of-the-line (unbreakable) TAS, I don't see any reason we would want to cancel this attempt. mklip2001 is right, I certainly don't want to see this go down because of an argument. You two worked really hard to improve this run, so please, this is not the time to bash each other and throw away this submission!

I wouldn't call this flawless top-of-the-line unbreakable; I'm sure there's improvements to be found. I would guess around 99.9% of all current published runs are sub-optimal in SOME sense. The debate seems to be that it wasn't polished enough to satisfy one person, and the other submitted it as an interim run until this submission could be obsoleted. That's not really a fight that's worth slugging out in public, of course, 'cause it's really an issue between those two. For the record, though, I am glad this was submitted, even if it's not as optimal as desired. What run ever is?

While replaying the game I had to stop few time to understand what's going on in your inventory... Great run, this was definitly as swifty as the wind! :) Also.. I would like to know if a run with all relics, rooms/aera(in other word I suppose that's called 1000% run) is on planning? ...Actually, this is the only Castlevania that I played thought and I would love to see this game finish by this way(I admit that doing a route for such run would probably means pure hell!! but if you can get a decent quick route, I'm sure that people will stop arguing for some meanless details).

The trick with room-based percentages is deciding if you're going to use out-of-bounds traveling, which can add a ludicrous number of extra "rooms" to your map that are completely empty. An all-relics/bosses run would probably be interesting. To keep the fights worth watching I'd say it should also be a naked (no equipment besides relics) run. Otherwise the bossfights rapidly devolve into spamming the Alucard Shield spell.

That is something I'd love to see.

Its not easy to define goals for a "longer" movie, to me the most obvious choice would be good ending (require ~195% map), and surely would abuse glitches... a lot One of the thing very boring is the inability to skip dialogues unless you are in the "second" quest (like choosing richter) The duplicator item require dirty sram too (let you do nasty things with heart refresh... mainly for % gathering) Would be quite a fun movie anyway, with or without duplicator, as you can still abuse the map quite a bunch just with some silly tricks :p For reference the max map without using heart refresh is ~300% With heart refresh theres no real "max", you can cover whole map with white The game total of "blue" rooms is 200.6% - 1890 rooms
