FTG, a no-rings complete play through should be quite entertaining... in my eyes *sparkle* EDIT: Hell yeah, dude, that ruled.

Hmm, so your goals are a) never collect anything that would allow you to take damage b) complete each level using sonic's route as much as possible because gliding over the entire thing is boring I don't know how b will fly on the workbench, but I was entertained, and it's fast, so keep up the good work :)

WIP through SY1 I'll release another public WIP at SY3 (for comparison with the existing one earlier in the topic), but at that point it gets hidden. I have to have some things up my sleeve :) Also I think you will agree that Marble 3 is the best level in the run to date.

Two more levels of ringless goodness! When I first did SY2 it was slower than on my old run, so I had a lot of fun with the input editor, especially when it came to the second bumper. I was out of position and faced with the prospect of having to find a way through again... The end result is what you see there. Last public WIP! Get it while it's hot!

@mike89 Do you know what's the exact GoodGEN rom name for the S1&K hack you're using? I've tried some hacks already, but none of them seems to sync with your WIP. :/
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

I redownloaded it here today and it synched perfectly (gens version 9.5c). In case it doesn't, it is considerable, that the emulator settings are not correct ones. Btw, I really enjoyed the run, though the ring avoiding seemed not to be a very dominant theme (I sometimes forgot about it during the time I watched it). However, I have no idea, how it will be received by the workbench audience.

I didn't think that Cowering added hacks to his GoodTools database.

How about a maximum rings / emeralds run with Tails? Ie, get all the possible rings, and all emeralds [optional?]. Either on S2, or S3K. Reason I say Tails is cause the guy doesn't get enough love ;_; It's something I reckon would be interesting to watch, especially to see the fastest time it can be done.

I've been working on a sonic 1 max score run. I don't expect this to be publishable and I'm not sure how far I'll get (probably marble2 as that level is 10 minutes and boring), but I thought some people might want to see my work. so far I'm up to GH3. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1717606189/sonic1score_TAS.gmv I think that you can get 1 more ring in GH1, and theres still about 30 frames to spare in GH2. thanks to carreto for making the GMV of a 16 hit combo in GH3. and carretos brother for encouragement, a tip on GH2, and having his brother make the GH3 combo GMV. edit: my latest version through SYZ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1847519894/sonic1score_TAS.gmv marble 3 was 123300 which is 13500 more then carreteros TAS and 19700 more then the record at TSC. sy1 was 73430 which is 2100 more then the TSC record. IL scores: level score (TSC record beaten by) gh1 77130 (1900) gh2 78530 (5000) gh3 100600 (45500) m1 69730 (600) m2 259430 (76600) m3 123300 (17400) sy1 73430 (2100) sy2 69580 (2100) sy3 31900 (1000)

No Special Stages? Wont be able to get every point in the game without them...

well its pretty easy to max the score on the special stages, and you would have to do the same special stage multiple times in order to get max score. it also might take me a decent amount of time since I'm not really worrying myself with fastest possible time. but if you think it would be better with the special stages I could probably go back and do them with an input splice.

I have no idea how it only just occured to me that you could 'fail' a Special Stage to abuse it for points. Still, I would not repeat Special Stages, as it is the same as hitting all those badniks on Green Hill 3, then jumping down a pit and repeating the process. But I just had in mind doing basically what your doing now but in the Special Stage. Point collection vs Speed Bonus management then complete the level, by hitting the signpost/emerald rather than loosing a life/hitting a goal sphere. No idea if it be worth actually doing it though. Bouncing around the Special Stage grabbing all the rings sounds impressive to me on paper... no idea in practice however. And I do not see the need to go back edit them in... You will probably be getting 50+ rings in every stage right? You could still be done by Labyrinth Zone act 3? Anyway curious how the rest of this turns out. Looking forward to the next wip.

thats a good point, if I don't repeat stages I probably wouldn't have to go back to redo anything, although I think breaking up the two short levels of gh1 and gh2 would be a good point to get an emerald. I'm not sure about marble zone 2 but I think I'll be getting 50 rings in every other relevant level, I'm pretty sure I'll get 50 in m1 sy1, sy2, l1, sl1, and sl2. however there is NO speed bonus in special stages, which makes maxing score pretty trivial. I mean there are 24 people who have gotten all the rings in every special stage at TSC. of course I would try to keep them from being too slow, but the special stages have very strange physics and theres no guarantee that I'd be able to do them well enough to be impressive. (esp SS3 which is just one big square room.)

I added SS1 at the end of GH1 and did marble 1, which I got 600 points more then the record at TSC and finished in 29:59. I thought it would be a pretty easy stage to do, and in fact after a bit of optimization I got what I thought would be the max score with over 4 seconds to spare, so I decided I had to go for a few hundred extra. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1544738022/sonic1score_TAS.gmv

I'm sure nobody cares about this one since its long and repetitive but heres marble 2 with 259430 points, and beats carreteros latest TAS by about 60k points but I don't think he tried very hard on that one. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/421531469/sonic1score_TAS.gmv I went for the stylistic approach of slowing myself down about 2 seconds near the end to get 9:59:59 instead of going as fast as possible, not sure if this was the best choice though. I also think getting that single ring box to the left of the checkpoint was a waste of time but I'm not gonna go back and fix it.

I havn't been making new posts here because it didn't seem like anybody was interested but I finished Spring Yard zone: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1847519894/sonic1score_TAS.gmv Spring Yard 2 is 69580 which is 2100 more then the record at TSC Spring yard 3 is 31900. I managed to get all points in sy3 in under 4 minutes, which gave me 1000 points over the record at TSC point total is now 923730
marble 3 was 123300 which is 13500 more then carreteros TAS and 19700 more then the record at TSC. sy1 was 73430 which is 2100 more then the TSC record.

For what it is worth, you will probably always have at least 1 person watching this. (Though, I would really, really, appreciate a save state anywhere from after Marble Zone.) You have any idea what the upper limit your going to end up with is? And for that matter, how much are you improving upon the STC scores? I have not been keeping track of your IL results.

I was reasonably entertained by your WIP, but if you were planning on submitting this, I'd suggest you add "fastest time" as a secondary goal and scrap the point-whoring like you did in Marble Zone 2.

I don't really plan on submitting this, I think it will probably be to long and boring for a platformer on this site. My rules are mostly to comply with TSC's rules: *No death abuse *Doesn't collect the same rings more then once *Avoids failing a special stage *Aims for highest score *Avoids sheilds and invincibility if it doesn't save time or add to score (since my goals don't include getting the fastest time this makes things a bit more interesting) If I do decide to submit this I'll be sure to add another rule: "Avoids destroying point giving entities (enemies/blocks) more then once" and I'll replace marble 2 and 3 with input (or at least strategy) by carreter0 and probably optimize the time of some levels. Off the top of my head I'm guessing the score will be ~1.5 mil. I made this savestate so I could quickly go to SY1 in case I wanted to watch the run from there, or I lost all my other savestates somehow: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GCE2B1K1 currently I'm only 172,420 points away from the combined record total at TSC and I'm only half way through the game! :) and I'm 192300 points ahead of the records through sy3 combined. (this is misleading since it counts the special stages) some of amounts I broke the TSC record by are out of date now. the scores for ILs are: level score (TSC record beaten by) gh1 77130 (1900) gh2 78530 (5000) gh3 100600 (45500) m1 69730 (600) (werster claims to have gotten a score a mere 100 points off my TAS.) m2 259430 (76600) m3 123300 (17400) sy1 73430 (2100) sy2 69580 (2100) sy3 31900 (1000)

I've restarted this TAS, but I'm having trouble in GH3. Theres a bee that I just can't get, I got him in my last version so I'm a little confused. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1802126580/Copy%20%284%29%20of%20Sonic%201%20Score%20Attack.gmv I finally hit him at about 2 minutes into GH3. (but not in the big combo obviously) btw, I switched to the (j) version to try and reduce lag. Edit: link corrected.
