I have a suggestion: How about making the category something you specify when submitting a run? That would make the workbench thread titles more informative, and it would be nice to have category information in the submission database. I suggest a text-field for category entry, as well as a drop-down box with previously used categories for that game. The category of the submission and that of the publication should be connected, so that in case the run ends up being published under another category than it was submitted as, the submission entry should be automatically updated. If this is introduced, every published run could have its corresponding submission entry updated automatically quite easily. The runs that became gruefood could either be manually assigned a category (sounds like too much work, perhaps), or assigned a dummy category for the time being.

I guess I didn't make it clear enough, but when submitting a run for game X, you have a drop-down box to choose from, which contains the categories used for previous submissions for game X. If the correct category is not on that list, then you use a text-entry field to enter the category, which will then be available on the drop-down-box the next time somebody makes a submission for that game. The point of the drop-down box instead of just having a text entry field is to avoid having the same category being spelled in slightly different ways for each submission.

Sorry to go a bit offtopic, although it's also about adding info while submitting... I think it would be nice if there was a field where the submitter could write down the movie number of the movie his submission is supposed to obsolete. Most submitters already include a link to the movie it's supposed to obsolete, but not always, and always on different places. It would be nice if there was a link and completion time automatically mentioned somewhere in the submission text when such a field is filled in.

Baxter: Wouldn't the movie it's supposed to obsolete be the currently published run in the same category. I.e. wouldn't having category information in the submission solve this automatically?

I agree with this completely, it would make a publishers job much much easier. Out of interest, could an automatic calculator providing a difference between the obsoleted TAS and the to-be-published TAS be provided on the publication form? It'd really help ease with some mathematical errors that (Probably only I fall doom to) are related to converting between minutes and seconds. But, that's just an odd little off topic nag.

I've wanted the ability to see a category on Subs-List.html for quite some time. I think it could be a good addition to the submission form. I'll put this on the TODO
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

The ability to specify a branch for a submission has been added. Currently this is only displayed on the submission page itself, though work is in progress to have it displayed on the submissions list (and elsewhere) as well. EDIT: the submissions list now displays run branch as well. Praise be to adelikat.
