The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in 4:17
This is something I whipped up really quickly to test Up+Down on nitsuja's new version of SNES9X. I abuse a glitch in Hyrule Castle then head north to victory. 2/3 of the run is unavoidable text.
-Abuses glitch.
-Takes no Damage.
-Requires the Up+Down & Left+Right enabled version of SNES9X
-Use WIP Timing.

Ha, I was just wondering about this. This is a really crazy glitch. You end up at the triforce in less than 3 minutes after the game turns on. And the ending was messed up because the "it's raining at the intro" flag never got turned off. I don't think it'll be useful in a full run for taking any shortcuts though, since the game remains nearly-permanently confused after doing any part of it. However, left+right and up+down still let you moonwalk around which might look cool and possibly be useful since the direction you're facing isn't only graphical, and some items behave a bit differently when used while doing this. I don't know if this movie should be published though... On one hand, not much happens and it's really easy to do, but on the other it certainly aims for fastest time and looks (like it should be) impossible...

Reguardless of whether or not this is published I'm still making the full run. This is simply too cheap and probably should only be regarded as a novelty. And I will use the moonwalk in the full run, and I'm sure I can find a place where it'll be useful outside of an aestetic way. This submission was mostly a test and a thank you.

I think we should do this one like Rygar. Two versions, one with crazy warp bug and one without. I'd suggest against using moonwalk in the full version for aestetic or other reasons. More people will be able to watch it (less version trouble), and if you use it you should use it at it fullest potential (like this run does).

Hi, poor game... Personally, I really whished for such a run to happen just out of pure interest. Now that I've seen it, I still think, it should be published, but only after a "real" run has been done. This looks cool, but it certainly doesn't give enoug credit to the coolness of the game itself. I haven't voted yet, but I will vote "yes", once a real run is done. Philip

neuron, you must use the patched version floating around in the Snes9x Forum. Then don't check the "WIP Timing"-Box, but check the "Enable up/down-movement"-Box and play it. That way it works. Philip

When I watched it, the movie stopped before the Triforce finished talking, so I had to press buttons to advance the text to the credits. Is that a desync or did you stop the movie too early?

Sounds like desync. Mine kept going until the triforce talk was over.

Err... I used WIP-timing and the run worked perfect for me. Anyways. This was a very cool run. I never thought this possible. I think this should be published but not obsolete a full run.

I used WIP Timing because I copied from the atrium from my current full run WIP. And pilif, I'm working on it. ^^;

Random Semi-Related Note: if you are a master of the hex, you can find a part of my run up to the bowling ball part of the first dungeon where I stopped to plan my route. It's obsolete now that I'm planning on using save + quits and all that.

I agree with Truncated, you shouldn't use Up+Down and Left+Right in the main video.

I think it should be handled the same way as the glitch run of Tiny Toon Adventures. Only a link is to the smv is posted, and only in the description of the FULL The Legend of Zelda run.

I feel really stupid, I've tried to watch this movie many times now.. It desyhncs when he enters the castle and he starts to pull an "iron knight". I'm pretty sure I'm using the right rom but what is the right emulator?

They were added in the "improved" snes9x that people have been referring to. Someone already posted a link to the thread about it here but I'll take you straight to the post with the download links...try here

Hmm... it seems that Bisqwit's wiki script doesn't like urls with anchors. I've editted the submission to have the exact link. But yarbles beat me to it. As did /*-

I thought it was pretty interesting. LttP has some pretty amazing/interesting glitches in it, and this is a fine example of one. I vote yes, but I agree the most with /*- on how to handle the movie. Congrats, though. It's an awesome video.
