I played the whole "Cool or Cruel" super mario hack in zsnes and used only 3 movie states, now i want to upload this to youtube but the movies are too long, and every program i try to split it makes the files incredible big or completely desync. So, is there any program that i should try ? Or is there anyway to dump one movie state in Zsnes into two movies ? ;D Thanks to the help.

I usually put my videos in an mkv container when I encode them, and then use the program mkvmerge to split them (it doesn't just do what its name implies).

I'm not sure how good it is nowdays, but Virtualdub is/was a good video editing software for Windows.

On the linux side of the world mencoder is the de-facto tool for that. Unlike VirtualDub, mencoder is command-line based, and thus has a slightly steeper learning curve, but once you learn to use it it can become really handy, especially since using it and a suitable shell script you can automatize all kinds of tasks (such as splitting a video into segments of 10 minutes each). That way you only have to write the script once and then just run it on any video. (I don't know if VirtualDub supports scripts or similar preset tasks.)

I honestly would suggest using the MKV splitter method mentioned at the bottom of this page, it's the best method that I've used. As much as I love VirtualDub, it does leave a little to be desired in terms of splitting. Just be sure to note that I've only really had the best success in splitting MKVs that have PCM audio, so, yeah, use PCM audio.
