About the game

In WarioWare the objective is to complete a number of 5-second minigames. There are 11 stages in this game with each its own genre. The whole game is played by only using the "left" and "right" arrow keys and the A-button.

About the run

All the previously completed runs mostly aimed for fastest time and as a result often missed out on entertainment. This game never really fit for a speedrun, especially due to the long cutscenes. Now in this game you can skip all the cutscenes and loading screens by simply using reset (A+B+Start+Select). Ryuto138 made a run using this trick and saved more than 20 minutes. But his run wasn't always pleasant to look at as sometimes he didn't do anything in some minigames or he completed them too fast to see what was going on. So I decided to make a new run, aiming for maximum entertainment without losing time and this is the result.
  • Uses a game restart sequence (31 times, I think)
  • Aims for fastest time (Though I used time to enter a name at the beginning of the movie)
  • Manipulates luck (In two places in the movie I pause the game to get a better outcome)
Used Emulator: 1.7.2 re-recording v21-interim

Closing words

Thanks to Ryuto138 for his TAS
Have fun.

There were some entertaining bits, but overall I wasn't amazed. The games get a little too repetitive, and there really is only so much that can be done to make many of these games entertaining to watch. This is basically the same as the Salary Man run that was accepted not that long ago, only with more repetitive minigames, a different (less exotic) sense of humor, and very little that can be done to speed things up. Sorry to say, I have to give this one a no due to poor game choice (for TASing, anyways).

Ryuto's run is faster. But this is more entertaining. I give it a MEH.

It is indeed possible to manipulate which minigames to appear (I'm not sure if you can manipulate the set or each game). So it may be possible to exchange the more boring minigames for more exciting ones. I don't plan to redo the run, however. Ryuto's run is faster due to the faster intro screen on the Japanese version (and probably some other factors like different minigames or other different Japanese-exclusive behavior).

voting no. Poor game choice. I don't think there's any way to make this game entertaining for a viewer. It's entire entertainment value comes from playing the game.

I got the feeling that nothing special was achieved by TASing the game... after all the minigames are on a timer. It was borderline boring to watch as well, it is way more fun to actually play the game. Weak Meh vote, borders to No.

Made this YouTube encode years ago. Not 60 fps but it shouldn't matter too much since it was made with the encoding package provided years ago, which included the deblink filter used at the time. Link to video
