Either way, can someone fill me in on what the whole drama is about, please?
watch the "0 Star TAS update" and follow the links from there, I think that fills you in well enough

So, let me get this straight. Some arrogant kid made a bullshit claim he can't even prove and manages to halt your entire TAS that way? I refuse to further comment on this.

That "arrogant kid" is also an awesome TASer that COULD have saved a frame. And the 0 star team don't want to submit sub-optimal work. If this frame can be saved, they want to save it. Though, Brian won't prove anything. Let's say I'm TASing "Chill With The Bully" for the 120 star TAS and hear that some Japanese TASer saved a frame over my run, that I though "optimal", I'd like to know where he saved that frame, despite he might be lying. Given the fact that this is a 0 star run and not a 120 star run, that frame is somehow crucial.

in reality any TASer could come up and tell you they have improved something, but if they have no proof of the statement you should regard it as bullshit and continue on ignoring what that TASer said, I bet Brian is laughing it off real hard at you and the team for having been able to make this whole mess also I don't really know anything about SM64 TASing but, how would you even improve a single frame? can't you just optimize everything by trial and error? I don't see how improving a frame is something that you guys can't figure out yourselves unless a new strategy is involved (which isn't the case from what I've understood)

Hey, maybe you should read the post that mine quotes. I can't believe how stupid some people are. BRIAN IS A GOOD TASer. So we can't just "disregard it as bullshit." My god...

Well we can, but we don't live for 65443^765 years to be able to brute force everything.

I read that, he's a good TASer, but also a faggot, and a faggot with a grudge against you, I don't see how that makes a lie unprobable

Yeah that's exactly why it's a bad situation. A good TASer who MIGHT be lying.

Immaturity rears its ugly head in the SM64 thread yet again. Just move on guys; nobody here cares that much about a single frame outside of your "team." It will probably be obsoleted by another second within a year or two anyway, so there's no point in everything being absolutely perfect, assuming there's even a frame available here. Just do the best job you can, and everyone will love to see your finished product.

Everyone's in the wrong here, imo. Life's not gonna serve you, nor is Brian. He's probably not gonna give up that run. Either find it yourselves (easier said than done; noted) or claim it optimized or just not continue this. Let the most epic run on TASVideos history die away because of a lie. Your choice.

Wow. Grow the fuck up. So what if he saved a frame, it's a frame he saved and you aren't really entitled to unless you find it yourself. edit: removed the part about banning since i didn't see the pictures in the youtube comments before this. still think both sides of the argument need to grow up though.

SM64 community would be totally fine if it wasn't for random faggots like Brian, who just HAS to be skilled. If only Brian was just an asshole who wasn't skilled, there'd be no problems. *sigh*

I say just wait it out, and if Brian changes his mind, yay for us, if not, then I say just continue the run. I'm probably not understanding what you guys are going through, but it's just what I think.

I've been reading the forums on this web site and others like it for almost a year and a half, and am greatly impressed by both the incredible skill and patience need for making a high quality TAS. Also I have enjoyed watching all the amazing movies on this web site and reading the forums which for the most part are far more mature then most other web sites. That said this situation regarding the 0 Star TAS and 24BrianRulez24's claim to have saved a frame and his ban on SM64.org I find very interesting. First off I do think the ban was warranted, he made a bet he lost he reneged all the while being both rude and arrogant. This i believe to be just cause for a ban. However i think anybody willing to make such a bet is arrogant. Though regarding the 0 Star TAS I think The Team should continue for the following reasons. 1. What is the worst that can happen if 24BrianRulez24 is telling the truth? The run is submitted and then obsoleted by one frame. If that happens I am certain that all five members of the current 0 Star Team will work on the TAS as hard as they can to obsolete that jackass 24BrianRulez24's movie and find improvements which will eventually lead to a more perfect run then would be submitted if you were just told how to save the frame. However what would happen if that was the last frame that could possibly be saved? Then I think everybody would be happy that there is a perfect movie on this site. 2. In all likelihood 24BrianRulez24 is just lying, and exhibiting the same unfounded arrogance which started this whole mess. I do hope you continue with the run and I would like to thank all the players and route planers at this website and other like it for providing me with many hours of entertainment.

Yeah. We'll wait. And keep waiting...and waiting...until that frame is proven. Oh and Brian also mentioned something to me earlier: "Ok look. I'll be honest with you but what will you do for me?" Shortly followed by a: "Ok. Here it goes. With my speed I manage to reach the bridge on 462 but the speed is way too much so I fall off the bridge. But by reaching on 464 I managed recently to save a frame on C^ing a frame earlier." 462 and 464 are the amount of VIs it takes from the beginning punch to the bridge. That was the number I was looking for from those pictures in the description of the video.

The only people who are going to care about 1 frame are you guys making the movie. Like others here have said, if you cannot find the frame yourselves, then you have no right to use it in your video, unless of course you intend to add Brian as one of the co-authors or something. Even so, halting progress of the movie for something as trivial as that is, in my opinion, both selfish and immature.

What does Brian have a trademark on it or something? I don't think it's copyright.

How is it selfish? It can't be as selfish as keeping a frame to yourself.
