Submission Text Full Submission Page
Hey again! I know, my last try to submit a movie here ended with "Decision:cancelled", but i make next movie.

What i wanted:
  • Used VBA-rr 22
  • Records counted:572
  • Frames counted:114194
  • Fastest possible time
  • 1-player
  • Uses restart sequence

Well...
I have a game to make a movie (TrackMania DS), but something diffrent I wanted. I choose... a japanesse version of WarioWare - Made In Wario.
It was hard on some stages, but I've get it :) And this is next lazy speedrun, but fast (not that fast, as my cancelled submittion). I've get some slower time as Ryuto's time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLb306j7jpc ), but made in 2 hours and 30 minutes. :) I think, where this run is needed here. :)

Patryk1023, this submission got rejected because Wario Ware isn't a good TAS material. A TAS of this game normally looks like the best Wario Ware player in the world. A TAS must overcome this. But before I get to watch and vote, is your TAS doing what human players can't do? Like abusing some glitches and heavily manipulating luck?

Almost no manipulation luck, but to glitches... Most times I've started too fast xD Also no glitches. Sorry, Mister Epic :(

Why did you use the Japanese version? I made a run a while back but it wasn't very impressive even though I tried everything to make it an interesting watch. Regardless of the game choice, you should ask for advice on the forums before and while making a TAS. And you shouldn't aim to complete a run in only 1 or 2 hours... Many runs on this site took months or even years to make due to the effort required. Maybe you don't want to invest so much time into making a tool-assisted movie, but you should try to do your best.

The US version is usually prefered at TASvideos. You should only use the Japanese or European version if there are glitches or shortcuts that only work on those versions and not on the US version. This is not the case with WarioWare. If you plan to make a run of another game, please remember to post about it on the forum (but search for existing topics first). That way people may be able to help you. Also, see the list of ideas.

Voting Meh At least you could had made it interesting, avoided failing barely or doing entertaining stuff instead of just standing there.

Are you flat out admitting that you don't even beat the time of the previous submission?

Yeah, the YouTube video he links is two minutes FASTER then this run. Double reason to vote no - bad game choice AND not faster then known records.

I would still give constructive criticism, though. Good effort on your first try, but as people have noted, it is probably not a good game choice and at least has to be either faster or more interesting that the previous submissions. If you need help on TASing, you should start a new thread to ask your questions.

Maybe should not of been submitted, but I would watch an encode if one was posted. I loved these games. Though a TAS is never very good to watch for them, I do like revisiting some of the mini-games that the games featured

Yeah, I think this pretty much sums it up. Patryk1023, I too would encourage you to seek guidance with TAS creation from these guys on the forums and possibly IRC also. I look forward to seeing more from you someday.

For what it's worth, a lot of submitted TASes get rejected. I think it's pretty rare for a new player's first attempts to be accepted. Sometimes even very experienced players get submissions rejected. I think your Wario TAS was moderately entertaining, so I'm sure you aren't far from getting published. Seek out a little guidance on the forums, and try again! =)

Patryk1023: If you put in some work, you'll be able to produce something good. Please don't feel bad about yourself and don't listen to those people who would rather spend so much time and effort to lower their reputation. Most people here were helpful, so listen to them. It takes some time to have a good end product. It depends on the game; some games can be done sooner than others. But the choice of game is also important. This type of game hasn't been known to show much TAS skill (see #2672: Lucky Bacon's DS WarioWare: Touched! in 54:00.02, #1989: DonamerDragon's GBA WarioWare Twisted in 53:31.55, #2682: MUGG's GBA WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames! in 29:19.45). There are other games that I believe are better for TASes.
