This is a 9956-frame improvement over the previous run.
Mole Mania, known as Moguranya (モグラ~ニャ) in Japan, is an action puzzle game. The main character is a mole named Muddy Mole, whose wife and children have been kidnapped by the farmer, Jinbe. Muddy has to go to Jinbe Land and save his family. In the game, the player will solve puzzles by moving a black ball to a gate. However, there are many obstacles and enemies in the way. Therefore the player will dig into ground to find ways around them.

About the run

This run skips 6 levels out of 8 by abusing reset glitch. The reset glitch used in the previous run is no longer required to unlock the final level because I found a new warp glitch.

New tricks

Black ball trick

You can push a black ball faster by holding B before touching it.

Warp glitch

When holding a black ball at the end of the screen, scrolling just after an enemy pushes the black ball shifts Muddy’s position by a half square. It allows going through walls locating the end of the screen and visiting a broken map which unlocks level 8. The glitch works at 1-9.

Stage by stage comments

Level 1

Before the warp glitch, I saved 32 frames through the black ball trick and lag management.

Level 8

I saved 11 frames at 8-2 with new black ball trick, saved 40 frames at 8-8 with different strategies, and saved 7 frames at 8-3 and 35 frames at 8-7 by manipulating luck. However, 1 frame slower at 8-1 and 19 frames slower at 8-6 due to lag. Also I lost 11 frames at 8-4 and 9 frames at 8-5 because I failed to manipulate luck. I had a really hard time manipulating luck at 8-5. If I didn’t make an effort here, the time there would be more than 100 frames slower than the previous run.

Very nice! The only thing I didn't like was the damage taken in the Funton fight, since it now meant you had the low-damage chime in the last few fights. However, I commend your efforts in lag reduction, and the snowman boss is still wonderful. Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

It's incredible that a warp can be done like that. Both the all levels TAS and this TAS are good. Yes vote!

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
