kaizoman666 did you try stomping the pswitch at the ceiling below the key so yoshi's head gets boosted up into the wall, and press ^ and y/x at the same time to get his tongue to come out high? maybe it's high enough to grab the key that way. doubt it but should take like 30 seconds to test.

Although I've never seen this post done by Mr., they say it exist. So please, if anyone can indicate me a link to an explanation/ho to perform the power up 106 on SMW. I already read: http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/CommonTricks.html http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/SNES/SuperMarioWorld.html And none has this glitch explained and teaching how to perform. So again, if anyone can please indicate me the link will be very helpfull.

Oh look, thread revival with a double post. Anyway, I was wondering about an idea I have for a TAS. People have been trying minimal jump TASes of SMW more often now, such as lucasdiv2011, mro314, and penangbenny (pangaeapanga). I'm interested in trying something similar, but I'm unsure of whether the site would allow it. Basically, I want to apply the Counter Break patch to the ROM, so that I would only be able to use the resources contained within the level, and not powerups and Yoshis from other levels. Would TASVideos allow this sort of thing, or no?

It might be published as a concept demo/hack type thing. My best guess is that it wouldn't be.

Wouldn't it also be tough to classify what is considered a jump and what isn't?

I don't think it'll be published, not only for "too many categories" thing, having a similar situation already being rejected
My first language is not English, so please excuse myself if I write something wrong. I'll do my best do write as cleary as I can, so cope with me here =) (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ

is it possible to jump off a p switch without losing momentum? i was once told you could if you got 49 speed the frame you jump off it or something like that, but when i tried i could not get 49 speed on that frame (since i have to hold y which makes me grab the switch,) yet when i got 49 speed the frame before that, i would lose my momentum :/

If you mean sprinting (i.e. "full p-meter") by momentum, you can't jump off a p-switch (or a key) without stop sprinting, unless you hold another item or ride on a yoshi, as far as I know.
Retired because of that deletion event. Projects (WIP RIP): VIP3 all-exits "almost capeless yoshiless", VIP2 all-exits, TSRP2 "normal run"

Link to video Part 4 I decided I am calling this the test run due to the hex editing being stupid, and a lot of improvement.

I have a question: When I start the game up to the point where the black bar of text starts to vanish, I reach about 1229 frames. But when I played back ISM & Mister's TAS run of this game, they only needed 1223 frames. What did I do wrong?

I presume that you are using SNES9X 1.5x? That version is made to more acurate emulate the real console, which means some parts will be slower compared to 1.43. If that's not the text, then I have no idea.

Yes, you're right, I'm using SNES9x 1.51. But which emulator should I use if I want submit anything? Edit: OK, this time I used the same emulator as in the featured run and got a slight difference of one frame. It seems the 1.51 emulators tries to emulate the lag better than the 1.43 one.

Yeah, Snes9x 1.51 is better at emulating lag, but due to the fact that it in turn generates more lag, Snes9x 1.43 is the most commonly used emulator here. Who wouldn't want to reduce the time spent doing absolutely nothing?

lolmac Can anyone figure out a way to both land on Yoshi on the same frame he's burned by a fireball (through either sprite overload or layer switch glitch) and not collect the coin? I am at a loss as to how to do so.

with layer switch glitch you can, i thought i already showed you that :P but you just cant get out of layer switch glitch which is the one problem. and as for sprite overload, i cant seem to figure out how to.

A) You showed me nothing. B) I never asked you to before. C) Layer Switch Glitch doesn't work with the situation needed anyway.

I'm just wondering if anyone has been working on a small only run lately. Also, I can't seem to find the latest old small only WIP on this topic. If anyone could direct me to the right page, that would be great.

skamastaG and I redid it and made it to CI3 before giving up. We saved a bunch of time but I don't have the smv handy (I know it's buried in this thread somewhere...) Might be a good reference EDIT: Ok I found it: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/837410913/small%20ci3a.smv There's also this: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/140251396/OnlySmall-Dawn%20wip.smv And this: http://tasvideos.org/2939S.html
