I did World 6-6 and it is 47 frames faster than the currently published run for World 6-5: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/15936825/GlitchMan-SMB3%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-W6-6.fm2

Awesome! I'm glad to see GlitchMan improved warpless run of the game. Do not stop!

That was the level where you had to fly into a hole in the ceiling and knock out all the munchers with a shell, right? A shame because I considered it much more entertaining that way. Still, great Find right there.

Very nice! I got it to 189 frames ahead so far. Checking first black screen after Toad's second message. I was a bit disappointed that you didn't glitch with the block in the ship stage, but oh well. Good luck with the next world. You'll do great !!

I improved the World 1 Airship boss by 11 frames: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1919555352/GlitchMan-SMB3%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-World1improvedWIP.fm2 Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Also, about the question block glitch, it's not that I didn't know how to do it, I just didn't want to overuse it because it's been done before. I also couldn't find a way to get more 1up's than the published run by bouncing on the enemies.

I found another cool glitch! If you apply the star on the map screen a certain number of times, the star power countdown will be delayed when you start the stage for that number of frames (here it's the maximum number of 28): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1862375774/GlitchMan-SMB3%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-starglitch.fm2

So basically, each star you spend after the first gives you one more frame of star power?

I finished through the World 2 Fortress level: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/862270059/GlitchMan-Super%20Mario%20Bros%203%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-WIP2.fm2 I'm having a difficult time with the luck manipulation of the Hammer Bros. I posted this just in case I lose my progress. So far I saved 413 frames but I'll probably lose a few due to bad luck with the Hammer Bros. The only way to luck manipulate is by waiting for another frame to complete a stage which is determined by the RNG located at 0781-0789. The luck manipulation for the Hammer Bros is too frustrating! It looks like I'm going to have to cancel my SMB3 "warpless" run. I was glad to be of assistance. I also did World 3-1 with Super Leaf/Racoon Mario in case any one wants to see it: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/966863574/GlitchMan-SMB3%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-W3-1withsuperleaf.fm2

I did a very quick edit to GlitchMan's WIP, and I saved 21 frames by catching the coin in midair: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1482659066/GlitchMan-Super%20Mario%20Bros%203%20%28U%29%20%28PRG%200%29-WIP2modified.fm2 I didn't account for Hammer Bros. luck manipulation at all - I hope this helps manipulate them. How are you trying to make them move?

I'm quite positive that he knows that it is faster to grab it in midair, but he ended his run there so he didn't care to fix it I believe. Or else it was just a dumb mistake...

because a warpless run doesn't beat all levels and it's nice to how all levels are beaten. so, why not?

I think the run may as well be a playaround then. It won't be the fastest run and, seeing how the game has so many glitches (as demonstrated by those japanese videos), we may as well do that.

How will that differ from [1035] SNES Super Mario All-Stars: Super Mario Bros. 3 "playaround" by Genisto in 1:06:46.28? I think it's fine as it is, fastest run without warps. The only stipulation is to not use the whistle, and beating every level isn't part of that.

You'd be surprised how much stuff the glitchfest didn't show. Most of it, I assume, has been fixed through localization, various PRG releases and the transition to the SNES, but we may just have a gold mine to discover there. Confer to this video, for example

It just feels to me that "warpless" and "all levels" are somewhat in direct competition. If an all-level run showed up, we would have to judge it against the existing warpless run.... My thoughts go to the current Goldeneye run. It was slower than its predecessor, but it won out because it managed individual levels more quickly, and the extra bulk came from the bonus levels. Now, for a game as optimized as SMB3 is, doing the levels noticeably faster doesn't sound easy, but matching the existing levels (give or take frame variances due to frame-rules or subpixels) but including the other levels would probably be the best solution... if it were accepted.
First a movie gets submitted, and ends up accepted despite breaking rules other runs have been rejected for. And when I vote less than spectacularly on this movie, I become the victim of harassment and threats. Yay, favoritism.
