I was thinking of doing this, as this is the only one not done or being done, as far as I know. These are the all the rules (I hope): 1 before 6 3 before 4 4 before 5 4 before 6 4 before 7 arrows before 6 meat before 7 candle before 8 wand before 4's boss This means I must go in 4, get the ladder leave, then come back later. I think that 4 is the only boss that you need the wand for. I hope it is at least. Anyway, I thought about it, and these are two ways that I came up with. Unfortunatly, it gambles too much because I could not find a good way to get the items late in the game. The one that will probably be better is: 30 rupees 2 screens east of level 2 Up-A Bombs 3 Up-A Gamble candle 4 up-a 1 5 Whistle 1 Arrows Meat 6 - Wand Whistle 3 4 7 Up-A 8 2 Whistle 1 9 This one is probably bad. I tried putting the braclet into it. Im pretty sure it takes to long to get the bracelet though. Braclet Warp NE Gamble 4 Warp Middle Bombs Arrows Up-A Candle 3 4 1 Warp NE 5 Warp W 6-Wand Warp S 8 Meat 2 Whistle 3 4 7 Whistle 1 9 I know that everone is probably tired of zelda now, but just look at this breifly, and tell me what you think. I can come up with better routes by myself if these are bad. Edit 1: Edited the routes a bit because of Michael'a post. Other edits: more corrections

So you plan on doing all those levels without the wand? Give some a few minutes and I'll try to come up with something better. By the way, I think you need the wand for the level 8 boss. Edit: I just noticed a problem with both your routes. You can't whistle to 4 if you just get the ladder and leave, you need the triforce.

Huh. Didn't know that. I am getting the wand though. Edit: Route doens't whistle to 4 now.

I know you're getting the wand, I meant that you should get it earlier. Anyway, I'm still thinking about this, so I'll let you know if I come up with something good.

Yeah, I know. Well, I have to do 3,4, and 1 before 6, and I just go to 5 because its a lot faster than going to 6 from 1 then to 5, even if I don't have the wand.

How is it faster to do 5 before 6? It doesn't save any distance and you wouldn't have the wand for 6. By the way, in your first route, where would you get the bombs from after gambling 4 times?

Umm... am I to understand this as you mean NO sword-killing, i.e. reverting to BOMBS of avoiding ALL above-ground enemies??? Doing Zelda without a sword is IMPOSSIBLE (i use that term loosely), so I'd love to see any FMVs of these runs :) P.S. and no, i'm not sick of Zelda :)

It is not impossible at all. If you want to see a movie of it, go here: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/130000/131959.shtml May I suggest grabbing a sword so you can kill Ganon? It makes a cooler end to the movie than dying. P.S. ポスト100つ目!

I have another question about your first route. When are you going to do level 5? Also, why would you beat level 6 and go back there later to get the wand? Doing Zelda without a sword is IMPOSSIBLE If by "doing" you mean beating the whole game, then that is correct. However, it is possible to get up to Ganon without a sword, and many people have done this on a real NES. There's a swordless questing FAQ on GameFAQs. Anyway, how's this route: 30 rupees from cave 1 screen right of level 2 Up+A Bombs Level 3, raft Up+A Gambling game Blue candle Level 4 (ladder only) Up+A (choose save instead of continue so you start in the overworld) Level 1, bow Arrows Power Bracelet Level 6, wand Up+A 100 rupees from tree Level 8 Bait Level 2 Up+A, right 2, and warp to NE Level 5, whistle Whistle to 3 Level 7 Up+A Level 4 Whistle to 1 Level 9, silver arrows

May I suggest grabbing a sword so you can kill Ganon? It makes a cooler end to the movie than dying. That might not be a bad idea, but it would have to be the wooden sword since that would be cooler than using the white or magical sword.

Whoops. Sorry about that. In my first route, the first 6 is supposed to be a 5. And it is a few screens shorter to do 1 5 Whistle 1 6 then 1 6 5 Don't know how much having the wand will help me for 5 though. Unfortuantly, I'd have to go the shop near level 2 to get the bombs. I think that your route is faster that way, so I'll change the beggining of mine. About the sword, I was thinking of doing that too. I might do that. Edit: 6 then 5 will probably be faster if i get the braclet.

Ok, heres all the revision applied to my route: 30 rupees 2 screens east of level 2 Up-A Bombs 3 Up-A Gamble candle 4 up-a 1 Arrows Meat Bracelet 6 - Wand Warp to NE 5 Whistle 3 4 7 Up-A 8 2 Whistle 1 9

There are a few problems with your route. Arrows Meat Bracelet If you get the bait there, you can't make use of the 100 rupee cave on the way to level 8. Whistle 3 4 7 It's a shorter walk if you do Up+A before going to level 4, and it's also a shorter walk if you whistle to level 3 before going to level 7. After doing 3416, all you have left is the 8+2 group, 4, 5, and 7. 8+2 has to be before 7 because of the bait, and 5 has to be before 7 so you can whistle to 3. Also, 7 can't be last because you wouldn't be able to immediately whistle to 1. With all these rules, you have 2 choices that would be equally fast. You can do either 8, 2, 5, 7, 4 (which is how my route went), or you can do 5, 8, 2, 7, 4.

Yeah, I gues you're right. I'll look at both of them and see what works out better key wise.

I don't think it would make a difference key-wise. Either way, you'll have enough keys for each level. However, if for some reason you don't have enough keys, it's better to go to 8 and 2 first because you get 3 extra keys in level 2. Edit: By the way, in a swordless quest the best keys to get might not be the same. Since fights would be harder, it might be better to skip a few of the fights and instead take a 1 screen detour in some places to get a key.

Yeah, thats true. Should I do the level 1 key "glitch"?

If it saves time, then yes. If it doesn't, then no. I don't know how long it takes to clear out rooms of enemies without the sword.

What bombs do you want me to get? The ones 3 screens north of level 3?

I should have known this would happen. Haha, it was fun solving the first quest, regularly. I have no interest in doing the second quest, first quest swordless, and second quest swordless. They would be fun to watch though. A few years ago Scott Conrad VanderWoude posted legitimate runs of doing the first and second quest swordless. They're some four hours, I think. Based upon my experience with the regular first quest, I doubt that he nailed the "perfect" path, but maybe watching his videos might help you. http://www.zhq2.com/ZHQ/games/classic/zemu/zemudl.htm TSA wants us to solve Zelda 3. I think that I may participate in that. I've played that game more than any of the other Zeldas. SNES re-recording emulators should be out soon, so why not start planning now? I was also thinking yesterday about a chat convo a while back. In Zelda 4 (the non-DX version) there was a screen warping glitch. I think that would be amazing to watch. If I remember, you could beat that game swordless too, because of the glitch. GameBoy re-recording emulators, anyone? These swordless quests seem very complicated to me. Granted, I haven't even spent a minute considering them. I have the idea that they are complicated, because they probably most certainly require entering levels for the item, and leaving before beating the level. Once I know the rules, and the musts (must get the wand early,) it probably won't be so complicated. Right now I'm too busy with school, and still fatigued from the effort of the last planning. A game that doesn't give you so much freedom is a little more alluring to me right now.

This is actually much easier to plan than the regular one, becuase there are a few more rules. 6 should be beaten as quickly as possible, and you need the wand for 4, and a few other things. 4 is the only one that you need the wand to beat though. This will be quite hard though because I will constantly be needing to get bomb drops. Btw, what affects randomness in this game? Every move you make?

from what I've seen playing the same rooms over, killing an enemy in a different position and time affects item dropping. I don't think your specific movements matter as much but i'm not too sure.

Yeah, I just did quickly went through level 3 to see how I could do and I get it now. No wonder Sleepz's video had so many rerecrods.

TSA wants us to solve Zelda 3. So should I make a topic about ALttP routes? I'll probably also participate, but I haven't played the game recently so I'll have to watch TSA's speed run video again to review where everything in the game is. In Zelda 4 (the non-DX version) there was a screen warping glitch. I think that would be amazing to watch. I'd rather see a speed run without the glitch. because they probably most certainly require entering levels for the item, and leaving before beating the level In the route I posted, you only need to do that for level 4. These swordless quests seem very complicated to me. It's not really that complicated. The swordless route is similar to the non-swordless route, but I just needed to change a few things around.

With the screen warping glitch in LA, one could actually finish the game in about 7 minutes. Since you can warp to the final dungeon from the beach you start on.
