I make a wall jump to avoid block of brick.

Nothing special

2-3

Nothing special

Well, I enjoyed it. The switcher blocks make for some nice variation over the course of the game, even if Boo is otherwise irrelevant. Yes vote.

There were some creative solutions to blocks that were about to disappear. I enjoyed this run; yes vote.

Yes vote from me as well. I really liked the differences between this and vanilla SMB, and you dealt with the toggle blocks very well.

Looks great and yes vote, but why do you jump late at 0:50? Does that save time somehow because it looks a wee bit sloppy.

I am quite impressed. I figured this would be a boring ass run and totally was wrong on it. It's a pity they never decided to try ideas like this with some of the ports of SMB to spruce things up a bit. It was short, well executed and entertaining. Yes vote here! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Seconded. Is this improvable?

I found this video pretty enjoyable. The altered level makeups and the toggle blocks, as mentioned earlier, give it a unique spin from vanilla SMB. The aforementioned jump in 1-2 kind of bugs me, as does a bit of the 2-2 swimming, but not enough for me to withhold a yes vote.

More specifically, in levels with face blocks, Boo doesn't have a form to physically flip the blocks back to red, so what they do instead is trigger Boo's "flips" based on the timer. Specifically, whenever it ticks down to a time that ends in 3, if the face blocks are currently white, Boo will flip them; if they're red, nothing happens and he waits 10 ticks to try again. If you play 1-2 at full speed, you'll end up hitting one of the blocks at 254, and Boo will flip it immediately after you do, closing up the pathway up ahead. This won't work. So instead, by a short, seemingly innocuous wait early on, this slows down the pace just enough so that when the timer gets to 253, that fateful block is in the process of flipping back to white, and Boo can't touch it while it's in the middle of its flip animation. This gives Mario enough time to jump through the gap and move on.

I can understand the importance of being forced to wait a bit in order to 'trick' the Boo timer and get through the wall. My concern is mainly that the jump in question (at 291 on the timer on that level) simply looks... inelegant. Because there's a lot of space between this jump and the key block you need to hit at 254, would it be possible to 'waste frames' another, less noticeable way?

This is mostly a nitpick, but at two points in the run (0:50 and 2:07 in the YouTube video, I believe) you press against a wall as it disappears. If you can put some distance between you and the wall, it would be faster to build up your velocity before running through it. I don't think that's nearly enough to reject this run, but keep it in mind if you want to improve it or don't want someone else to obsolete this movie.

I Enjoyed the run. It offered something completely different from the original in terms of the level designs, keeping the run interesting. The TAS was well executed. Yes vote from me :)

I remember the first time someone tried a run of this, they eventually couldn't defeat black Boo. What changed? It appears that you managed to trick the game into using regular Boo during the levels.

Boo always matches the speed of your last run trough the level. This run starts from clean You Vs. Boo data.

I finally got around to checking this. This was pleasantly fresh compared to most SMB runs. I'm reminded of Kirby Super Star's "Gourmet Race" levels. Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
