How can you know what an IP address is and yet not know that 127.0.0.1 can't be a non-local address? Oh my, but idiocy is funny. I especially enjoyed the retreat to 7-year-old insults, i.e: "Only my grandmother does that."
If life were an RPG, I'd be an NPC.

I wonder how old he really was. I'm thinking 12-year-old who was showing off to his friends.... Then he was like "Why won't my computer turn on again?" And then his friends laughed at him. :) PS Next time anybody sees somebody like that on IRC give them your IP as 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.1 for good measure

That assumes they're behind a router of some sort, so it won't be nearly as much fun. I'd just whois them and get their own IP and give it to 'em.

And why don't people use the other 127s... they're all loopback and aren't as bleedingly obvious. 127.34.125.64 will go back to localhost as well.

Because being SOOO obvious is what makes the "hackers" look REALLY dumb... that's basically what makes the log I posted funny.

hahahahaha oh my god that was good:>. an similiar thing happened for me, i had a sub gamemaster title at an friends ragnarok online private server, and an really bad sub GM and i allways had different opinions on stuff, and when he said something wrong i would allways correct him and call him stuff. so he starts yelling that he's gonna ip ban me. -.- he sits in center prontera and counts down from 20, when he reaces 0 he logs out. he actually ip banned himself instead of me:> you have to love some people^^
