I never really understood people trying to make timeattacks/speedruns with critereon such as 'use only the basic weapon'. Not only does it slow down the whole movie, but it tends to get boring really really fast. Also, keep in mind that using the buster only would get rid of a lot of the cool glitches.

Yeah, the other weapons make it more interesting. Using the basic weapon only could be more of a personal challenge than something to make a movie out of.

What about the impossibility of completing the game? Wily level 4 in MM2 can't be beaten without Crash Man's weapon.

I think it's a stupid idea. In a timeattack, I don't want to see someone hold back on using something unless it means something else interesting happens. For example, not warping in Rygar or Battletoads leads to an amazing array of tricks used to beat the various levels, both variations are amazing runs. But restricting special weapons in Megaman takes something away without adding anything interesting. Now why would you want to do that?

Well, I guess it might be considered a show of skill to beat everything with a weak weapon. But this site isn't about skill anyway.

Yeah, buster-only runs are more fun to play than they are to watch. I had this one friend who trained himself to play Mega Man 3 on a Play Choice 10 machine using one hand. That was pretty interesting to watch.

Buster-only in Mega Man is the equivalent of a knife run in Resident Evil 4; it is possible, but why pass up on the more efficient/entertaining methods?

Sure it is - but about a different kind of skill.

But that kind of skill tends to get boring and therefore, it's not needed here at Nesvideos. It's more fun to watch a player stroll through the whole with the proper use of weapons, rather than look at a boring run, wouldn't you agree?

Sure - and I don't think a buster-only movie would be *that* interesting. I just wanted to point out that the statement that this site is not about skill is untrue. ^^

the only difference between using the xbuster and using all the weapons to finish the game is time, it doesnt get more difficult or less difficult

Ever tried killing Elecman with just the mega buster? You don't know what you're talking about.

And it's possible to get ElecMan into a stupid pattern if you have good timing.

Iceman = Impossible in a speedrun. If someone did do a buster timeattack.. that would be the only thing to intertest me. Other then that.. Like others said.. this is a entertaining site.. I leanred that the hard way.. If they were to make a new catigory for movies, i think it should be like.. a speedrun spot.. or a no glitch spot. but.. too much work... so scrap that. Rockman 1 is faster with no glitch in some spots though. :)
