I'm considering going back and doing my All Emeralds run again. I would like to re-pickup my old input (with some tweaks, as I know I can do faster than the version posted here). I'm considering the following goals;
  • Priority: Obtain Super Sonic as soon as possible.
  • No damage.
  • 1 Player controls 2 Characters.

Cool. I have been waiting to see what Super can do in this game.

I was wondering if it was possible to do a Knuckles "No rings" run but I got stuck at the end of CP2, there's like 3 loops I can't avoid with an invisible wall...
Here you go. Using your movie until frame 15930, different from then on.

Awesome ! thanks. ^^ I found AR 1&2 quite easily, CN1 too but the last three rings seems, at first, unavoidable. I still have some test to do, if I can keep speed shoes long enough there's a wall I'd like to get over, I don't know if it's possible... At the end of the .gmv you can see what i'm talking about. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1092724911/noring.gmv

Hooray for all the Emeralds!

You can use DMTM's zip in CNZ2.

I know I ask for help often but... I'm stuck in the HTZ2. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1459948748/noring%20-%20Copie.gmv 6 rings I can't avoid....

The zips would be very effective in this race or the glitches between-walls. I would suggest trying to find this glitch to better avoid some rings inevitable. I think that the solution in HTZ2 is use a glitch.

mike89 did a lot of research on no-rings runs, and concluded it was only possible in the Knuckles in Sonic 1 hack. Tails could probably do it too.

Well, after the CN2 zip was found I looked at this again, and I have to say that the only level that I'm not absolutely certain you can beat without collecting rings is Metropolis 2. To get some of the other tricky levels out of the way now: * In Metropolis 1 if you do a full jump and glide just as you're about to hit a mesh cylinder, you'll fall straight through it, which you can do at the start of the act to skip the first ramp with rings * In Wing Fortress you can glide around the part at the start with all the rings in the corridor, but you need a lot of speed to do it

Thanks, here's where I'm stuck... (You'll see in MZ3 when Knuckles stop in front of a door and start doing random things in a really sloppy way.... that's because I forgot to stop the recording ><') 3 rings.... http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/505755063/noring%20-%20Copie%20%282%29.gmv

It is amazing all that you have been done. Good method to use between-walls glitch in HTZ2. But I not think it is optimal to have to wait so long for that. However, I see that you abuse glitch between-walls with the ability semi-flying of Knuckles to skip the places hard of skip rings like in Metropolis Zone. Good job so far.

Here we go! Glitchman showed us the Metropolis act 3 zip with by jumping to zip. But that jump can be removed! As we all know is running is quicker then jumping. Here is gmv: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1091596128/Sonic%20the%20Hedgehog%202%20%28JUE%29%20%5B!%5D%20MPZ%20Act%203%20TAS%20by%20Mr_Sweed%20aka%20DMTM%202012-03-10.gmv

I don't see what you mean by "glitchman jumped" or why this version would be faster.

Alright! NaturalLorenzo used the latest published run for Sonic 2 from TASvideos.org and did do a nice re-recording of Metropolis Act 3 today. A nice run have to get some nice credits. GlitchMan doin' a great jump to find that zip. Then DMTM Showed us that was possible to do without that jump. And many thanks to NaturalLorenzo for doin' this run. LOL came to post it here and found it already posted :) Great job, guys… Does it have a chance to be accepted as improved run? Btw, you haven’t added the rest (with wonderful dancing to the music :) ). Here is the full gmv: http://averkov.web.id/files/for-tasvideos/fuzzerd,sonikkustar,upthorn,aglar,dmtm,qwerty-sonic2.gmv P.S.: very happy to see NaturelLorenzo’s contribution to this run :)

Hmm, no… It does not sync because of luck manipulation used… Some things need to be re-done… But I guess it’s still possible to make it to sync fine by editing the file manually.

That one is extremely improvable. If you wait a couple of weeks, an even better run might show up in submission queue...

Aglar, nice info! Actually, it’s my most favorite run that I’ve ever seen :) P.S.: but do not remove the dancing part, whoever made it, is genius :)

I did that part. Thanks for the words! :) Also, Id rather get all the known improvements in before submitting another run because submitting a run just for one Act is rather obnoxious & could lead to insanity like the chain of submissions for Sonic 3 & Knuckles with marzojr.
