On second thought, Dragonfangs' interpretation ("So long dear Bowser") could also be possible if the script is once again just Engrish.

Does anyone have Martinet's email? He'd be the best one to straighten this out.

Wow, I didn't realize he rolled the r in "Bowser". It still sounds like "eh" to me though.

I'm pretty sure it's either "king" bowser or "big" bowser. I'm pretty sure it's not "gay" bowser, but it seems everyone hears it differently.

I always thought it was "So longy, Bowsie!" which looks and sounds really dumb.
That's what I always heard too. I just figured he was taunting poor King Koopa :P

I honestly don't know if people are trolling or serious when they ask this question. Are you serious?

Unless there was an official answer at some point in time, I feel like it's a totally legitimate question. I've never heard any convincing arguments for any interpretation. To me, it still sounds like "So long, kee bountin!" ever since the first time I played it.

If I was "trolling" according to you. Someone would have already given a concise answer and provided a link to an official source. Leaving no doubt in anyones mind. There has been some good theories so far, but nothing concrete. The subject matter isn't much different from "Who lost to Glass Joe?".

I'm pretty sure this same discussion happened on these boards many years ago. Someone took a rip of the sound file and slowed it down and it was clear that Mario was rolling the "R" on "Bowser" at the end and everything else became very clear as well. Anyone feel like slowing down the clip (perhaps with pitch adjustment)? *EDIT* Okay, I just ripped the audio from the youtube video and used Audacity to adjusted the tempo down by 75%. It's hard to hear over the background sound effects and music. Does anyone know how to rip just the Mario voice track so that we can focus only on that component?

He says "So long, Bowser!" with a super mario accent. There's no confusion in my mind. I really don't understand how can people not see that. Maybe it's confusing if you're a native english speaker...
