I found some more cool glitches on YouTube: Jump onto the Brain - this could be useful if we could land on another one or two brain holes OoB in Flying Dutchman's Graveyard - we might be able to use this to get the other spatulas in the area before doing yoshimaster's glitch to grab the bungee spatula Skip Robot Patrick! This one is great! This should definitely save time since there are many faster spatulas in the game and that battle takes a long time. Also, I've tested this with a Moon Jump code before, and entering the Krusty Krab or Chum Bucket and exiting makes the NPCs (like Mr. Krabs and Plankton) appear. I won't do this game for a while, since I'll be doing Paper Mario: TTYD and SpongeBob: Supersponge. I'll post a WIP when I'm done with those two games.

gotta love the "Saving Game" glitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6g2ph6mnfc So you can also skip the Sandy boss (I'm not sure if its faster tho)

How do you skip Robo-Sandy with this? Could you maybe post a video on that?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj-OIlX3Dgg Ok so it took me 1:55ish to do the skip because this game forbids using the ball out of bounds >_> I have another MUCH faster method of doing it but theirs invisible boundary's in my way, I'll see if I can find a way around them Also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FP3grmmMJdY if we can find a way onto that rock we can skip the shell and save a load of money

I'll have to see whether using a blank memory card and saving the game after each spatula would be worth it timewise. It's kind of sad how it's limited to one use per slot. I don't think your Jellyfish Fields post-slide skip is going to be of use in this run. There are two easy spatulas for rescuing Patrick and completing the cave. Patrick is also needed immediately after for Drain the Lake and the Clam Skip (since it appears he jumps higher than SpongeBob, which is essential for this skip).

After an hour and a half of testing, I finally managed to skip the "2000 shiny object" clam!

Ohhhhhhh...you collect the spatula, die, and then take the taxi... Yeah, that was the crucial part I was missing. Thanks for uploading that video!

A post in the SDA forum topic for this game reminded me that skipping Sandy skips learning the Bubble Bowl move, which is necessary to complete the Mermalair and makes a lot of other levels easier. So I guess that strategy is out.

Is there actually a solid speedrun route for this game? (Optimal 75 spatulas to get, which order, etc.) itsPersonnal and I have mapped out our own route, but we're not sure if it's optimal or not. I want to do a test speedrun (non-TAS), but I want the route to be good first.

Nope. The speedrunner on SDA has a great route, so he says, but he's not sharing anything until he finishes his speedrun. The thing is, he's still "perfecting" his route, and still looking for recording equipment, so it may be a while. By the way, I'm not going to be able to TAS this game until I'm done with Paper Mario: TTYD (I hope to finish by the end of the year, as unlikely as it seems). So anyone else who wants to work on TASing this game can go right ahead, but I would wait until the speedrun is done so we can see all of the shortcuts he hasn't told anyone about (and he says he has some).

COEL625 managed to perform jlun2's glitch to end the final boss battle early! Here's the first video of it being legitimately done!

you know the video of it being done illegitimately? yeah I could really use that moon jump code to test a few things for the "two spatula" route, would anyone happen to know what it is?

It's been in the description of my "illegitimate" video for months. Just copy it from there. Also, I tested the route and found a corner of the ceiling and wall of the Chum Bucket where the hand will pull you away, but you can only get there by Moon Jumping.

where does the hand place you? and can you take a pic of the place you got it to work please?

The hand places you in front of the doors that you used to enter the Chum Bucket. So you're next to the "Specials" sign, facing the 75 spatula door. I can post a picture if my description wasn't clear enough. I didn't test BBB on it, because I figured it was impossible to get to legitimately.

A picture would be nice, because I don't really know exactly where you got it work from that description :P

OK, here are some screenshots. Sorry it took so long to upload them. I was having computer problems. The first screenshot shows the corner where the hand took me away. Actually, I just found out that if you Moon Jump anywhere against the ceiling for 5 seconds, the hand will take you away. We might be able to use this, if we could get the Bubble Bowl Boost to work and move through the door (meaning we would need a 16-spatula run [like SM64!]). The second screenshot shows where the hand will put you no matter where you "die". We could try testing BBB there, though COEL625 (who discovered the glitch) doesn't think we would be able to go through the door.

I'll definitely test this when I get the chance today, btw you can get into the corner without codes, but I doubt anything would happen because "if you Moon Jump anywhere against the ceiling for 5 seconds, the hand will take you away." that's most likely what happened.

Remember I mentioned about a 100% savefile? Here it is. You'll need it to play back this .dtm showing the last boss glitch. Also, youtubed. :P

Just curious, but exactly what is the planned route for the run? Edit: Does the Robot Spongebob battle level get triggered by going behind the door, or pressing A with 75 spatulas?

No one has posted a planned route yet. Currently, COEL625 is working on finding a way behind the door or out of bounds in the Chum Bucket to possibly skip the 75 spatula check. It's not known if it will even work, but that's why we're testing it. In the final boss battle(s), the Bubble Bowl is only necessary for one of the brain holes, and the Cruise Bubble can be skipped entirely. So if we could beat Robo-Sandy and go to the Chum Bucket with 16 spatulas, we might be able to Bubble Bowl Boost into the door. Again, this hasn't been tested yet. I definitely thought the speedrun would be done by now, but we haven't even heard from the speedrunner in months. It would be very helpful if we could just see what his route looks like.

Which Dolphin revision did you use to make this?

Is there a walk thru walls code? Maybe we can use it to check. :)

I believe its 3. um....something. I don't have my laptop atm, so I can't check. Sorry. =/ Edit: I forgot to mention this, but the .dtm syncs fine if you don't load a savestate during the movie. If you made a savestate during the battle, closed game, played back the dtm, and reload the state, there's a high chance the boss behaves slightly differently.
