Tricks

The Handshake of Death
There are actually several ways to perform this glitch, but the name comes from the most common way to do it.
To do it, just have both characters hit the same two or more enemies at the same time. This will cause constant damage to them as long at there are at least two enemies being hit at the same time. This even destroyed a boss at one point.
The downside to this trick is that the enemies can also do it. This is why it's bad to be pinned against walls.
The Double Grab
By having one player attack a grabbed enemy that is being attacked by the other player, both players can grab the same enemy at the same time! This is incredibly useful against bosses with high health as I can constantly Atomic Drop them to death.

I made a lengthy post on my SVN about my thoughts of this run as a whole. Go here to view my comments:
Thank you all who supported this run from the start. That is all.

feos: YouTubed.

Dooty: The overall quality of the run is reason enough to accept this one, let alone the positive audience response. Accepting for publication.
feos: Precessing...

Very impressive! Amazing tricks, many moves used, and diversity in the characters chosen.

So good. Strong yes vote. Excellent use of entertainment without messing with speed. Seriously, thank you for this run.

1) You do a lot of back-suplexes with Max to finish off enemies. Would a jumping throw be faster? (That's what Bestiajerules often uses.)
The German suplex does 62 HP; the jumping throw does 40 HP. I assume that the time it would take to do the extra 22 damage makes a jumping throw longer in some situations (not having to slow down for other enemies, preventing a knockdown, etc.).

A spectacular improvement to an awesome game. The "Handshake of Death" was a thing of beauty, and I liked the frozen poses afterward. Yesss.

I couldn't help noticing that The Handshak of Death reminds me a lot Toe Jam & Earl's Total Bummer! But for the enemies! Easy yes vote!

I’m really into these multiplayer games lately, and what we have here? Well, simply one of those things called masterpieces. If you haven’t done so yet, do yourself a favor and watch it! The way the tricks and glitches were used sets this one apart; nothing is overused, instead, the player managed to keep the run fresh throughout, giving us a pleasant surprise at each stage.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

I watched about half of this, and while it was enjoyable, it did get boring, which is why I didn't watch the whole thing. I think this is just too long for what it offers. Since I didn't finish it, I won't vote.

i was sometime a bit overwhelmed with all the action but it's an awesome and pretty fast paced run, the complexity and the quality of most of the fights really surpised me. yes vote and thank you for all your efforts sonikkustar, i hope that your college years go well and i'll be happylee wating for your next masterpiece !

The L5 bosses and ending bosses were specially insane. I felt that it would have been more entertaining if the game were maybe 2 or 3 stages shorter. But your efforts remain astounding.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to do the handshake of death with weapons? For example, while Max hit the enemies with a punch or kick, Skate throws a weapon or hit the enemies with a weapon.

Not possible with attacks that cause knockdown, iirc. All weapons knock enemies down.

I've been on vacation, otherwise I'd've been all over this before it got published. Great work, Sonikkustar! The combination of Max and Skate works much better than two Maxes in my opinion, and you had good interplay between them. Especially, I appreciated the fact that you kept their scores close throughout the game (well, up until the last stage anyway) -- that's some great attention to detail there. In the fight against Zamza, you had two ninjas available. Might it have been faster to use them to do the Handshake of Death on Zamza instead of usual kill-him-with-tick-damage approach? Of course the ninjas would have died before Zamza did since they get hurt by the Handshake, but it'd do damage faster than the dash would, I'm pretty sure; the only problem would be getting Max out of the animation freeze. In any event, my vote can only be one thing: DA! BASEBALL!

I've been waiting for this since the day I encoded his WIP. If only the encoder pressed A after the best ending ever to display #K.O.'s. Also:

Did anyone but me notice something very special in this run?

Hell yeah, WST. Pretty freaking awesome stuff, in my humble opinion. One of the best TAS I've ever seen. Watched it many times, and still like everytime I watch again.

The elevator section on Stage 8 is probably improvable. I wish it was resynced on BizHawk 2.9.1
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.
