Wouldnt the PSX version be far mor superior? I mean, now that we have the possabilitys of emulating PSX pretty well and having an emulator with TAS features, why not TAS the game on the system it was designed for?

I've just watched this comparison video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX6dgkn5EQQ I can't spot any significant difference here aside from the graphics looking more dynamic on PS. From what I heard, PSX TASing still has some problems (desyncs, emulation glitches) and I'm even less familiar with PSX than with N64. So that's why I'm a little skeptic here... Having read through the last posts I'm saying it would be nice if Spider-Waffle posted his unfinished WIP (even if it got cut off). I wonder if he went for all the goals or only the fastest ones, because 22 seconds in Warehouse is pretty fast!

Here is (what was supposed to be) a complete test run for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (N64): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqlzAX94kxE Sadly, I forgot the "Pro Score Tape" in School Miami, but it's no big deal. I am already working on the final version and will submit when I'll be done.

Epic Fail indeed. I feel like it might be faster to get more special meter in 'School' before getting to the secret tape. It should make you a fair bit faster right? Maybe you tested this and it was slower. What are the goals of the run?

Reaching the end credits as fast as possible. It's pretty much like an any% run.

Indeed, I should get more special before reaching the rail in School Miami then perform a special slide to get the pro score tape. That being said, there are some other places that can be improved in this run.

I'll say. That's pretty bad even for a test run. I can beat all but the warehouse time on a console. There's just so much your missing.

Hey, just saying I plan to run THPS 2. I'm going to complete all the goals in every level.
Have you made any progress on that project?

Have you read all the posts of this topic? Spider-Waffle explains several strategies in some of them. If you haven't, reading them will help you to improve your run. I have noticed that you go through various corners during the run. Did you take advantage of an emulation glitch where certain structures don't load properly? I ask this because I don't remember that trick being possible to do on a console. However, I played the PSX version and it was a while ago...

Could you write a post describing the routes and tricks that would make his run faster? (Excluding those already mentioned in other posts).

Okay, I've been trying for about an hour and I still can't find the MHS speed address for the first level. Could somebody please help me finding it?

After some more exhaustive research, I finally found the speed address for the first stage, which led to this WIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzt2c__L5c4

Alright, now that my v2 for THPS1 is submitted, I'll go ahead and try THPS3. Unlike the current published run, I'm aiming to beat the game as fast as possible (which I think will still be entertaining enough to warrant publication). I'll post my progress in this thread for those of you who are interested.

Wow. Will you be using route from George's 4:25 real-time speedrun or you will create your own?

Didn't the run of this game that aimed for fastest time get cancelled due to negative viewer response? (http://tasvideos.org/1701S.html) I would probably vote no on a fastest run of this game.

I don't find any% THPS runs that entertaining to be honest, it's the wild and crazy solutions for getting all the goals of a level that is the most entertaining part of this game in my opinion. But that's just me.

I like 100% over any% for this game myself. It's fun to watch how crazy the player gets to get all the goals at once.

That was a while ago, and the audience has changed since. The best proof of this are these two recently published (within the last sixteen months) movies of Tony Hawk games in which Nahoc aimed for the fastest time. I, for one, look forward to the submission. :)

Yeah, any% runs have been accepted, because good runs in that category have been submitted. That doesn't mean that the audience agrees with that category - in fact, each submission thread contains voices of disagreement. It does mean the runs were good enough to publish anyway. So we'll probably have a lengthy discussion about the correct category and end up having both published, or something.

I prefer speedruns rather than playarounds, but that's just me. First do a TAS and then worry about whether it gets published or not.
