I suggest you consult the vendor of your screen capturing software, or at the very least, tell us which screen capturing software that is. I would guess it is due to the alpha channel we use in our output and a bug in the capturing software which causes the alpha to get composited with pink.

Here's a bug report: Sound pitch in PAL mode for the DMC channel is wrong. Very noticeable in Sunsoft games like Mr. Gimmick (E) or Gremlins 2 (E).

Video explains it but I'll just go over if you didn't watch it: Link to video By loading bizhawk (1.3.0) or DiscoHawk it will show up as it's loading in Task Manager but will not actually load and close itself, no error messages either. Also bizhawk (1.2.0) was actually loading up successfully without any errors so did something get broken?... If you're wondering what version I am just in-case, I'm 64bit.

Btw, the solution to both Spikestuff and feos' problems were to restart their computers. In case anyone else is experiencing problems with the new release.

Restarting my computer didn't solve the issue. EDIT: *Looking at Processes > BizHawk.MultiClient/ DiscoHawk *pops up* > Windows Problem Reporting... (With discohawk it shows a box saying program didn't start up) Both close

you dont happen to have visual studio installed, do you? also check eventviewer for messages in the application log related to these broken attempts to start programs. i am particularly interested in discohawk, as it is failing to run and has far fewer requirements and therefore fewer things that could be going wrong. Finally, try turning off your virus scanners and security software which may be interfering with the crapton of unmanaged core dlls we're trying to load now. Those might get loaded by discohawk..... which annoys me, if so.

All platforms in bizhawk (and in most other emulators around here) are subject to the one input per frame rule. It's not a core problem in most cases (including bsnes); just a frontend thing. I don't particularly like it, but it simplifies some things, and has no negative consequences in many games on many platforms (any game that uses a simple "once per frame" input reading setup). If you need subframe snes recording, try lsnes.

I found a bug in BizHawk for the SNES. It happens in DKC and Breath of Fire II. First set the window size to "1x" then on the title screen for DKC as it goes through its stuff on one of the screens the window size jumps back to "2x" for the one screen and then jumps back to "1x" after that screen is gone. The same thing happens early on in Breath of Fire II. When in the introduction and leaving the first village to walk up to the dragon, in one of the ares the window size jumps to "2x" and then back to "1x" when you leave that area.

not a bug. the SNES changes resolution on the fly, so the window does too. not saying it's ideal behavior; i'm not sure what the best thing to do is in those situations.

Bizhawk in general, displays whatever the video processor of the emulated system is generating in a 1:1 pixel fashion. On many systems this is just dandy, on other systems it causes more "issues". PCE/PCE-CD have many games that do funky things with resolution changes and manipulation of the active display region; Genesis has 40-cell and 32-cell mode, as well as interlace mode; SNES has mode changes as well. We do plan to address this eventually, it just hasn't been the top priority so far. Whatever solution we implement down the road would probably be toggleable, as there are some situations where Bizhawk's current behavior is kind of nice. For instance, Lords of Thunder PCE-CD has some 16:9 cutscenes and it's kind of glorious to see it taking up your whole widescreen monitor. It can also be good for encoders, who can use more advanced methods to manage the resolution changes.

It seems that Atari 7800 BIOS files need to be in "{ROM location}\Firmware\". Shouldn't it be "{emulator location}\Firmware\"?

What version is this? Just to make sure, some of that stuff has been changed around recently.

I loaded BizHawk 1.4.0 with the movie from this Game Gear submission. It reports a SHA1 of D23A2A93. That does not look like SHA1 to me. It looks more like CRC32. This information is in the movie file's header. Just a report. Edit: BizHawk 1.4.0 also reports D23A2A93 as a correct checksum for "SHA1" for that submission and the ROM I have.

The "SHA1" line of the movie header actually holds the hash that the rom was identified with. If the rom is not in any of the databases, it will always be in SHA1. If the rom is in the database by MD5 or CRC32, that will be used instead. There are also some other variations for things like CD games... In this case, the Master System\Game Gear gamedb entries are all by CRC32, so whenever one identifies correctly, that is what will be used. Yeah, that's a bit icky, isn't it...

When I do something resource intensive, it occupies quite some memory, say ~200 MB while dumping a video. After I finish dumping or even close the ROM, it won't let go the memory until I minimize-hide the application. Then it drops to 9 MB usage only. If I won't force it to release the memory, BH will crash my computer on exit.

BH will crash your computer? or the BH process will crash? because if BH crashes your computer, its some driver's fault and not ours.
