I double-clicked the emulator, but it won't boot up. I don't know what the problem is.

Yes I have all the prerequisites installed. But the process gets terminated without warning.

I'm having the same problem. Doesn't create the main window, process just crashes immediately. I built the latest SVN with C# Express and that actually works fine though. I can't find 1.2, but I'll try it if someone has a link. Here's my r4201 build if you want to try: https://www.dropbox.com/s/04p29aaxy6y2jmo/BizHawk%20SVN%20r4201.zip

you didnt think of it sooner, because it shouldn't be necessary. the dlls were put in a location that we considered at length and took pains to ensure worked. can you tell us the path youre using to run bizhawk out of? could you try dearchiving a fresh bizhawk to c:\bizhawk and see if it works with all the junk still in c:\bizhawk\dll ?

I run it in the c:\users\owner\documents\downloads\bizhawk-x.x.x directory.

http://imgur.com/asRvk Why my machine won't open 1.4.0? I had no problem opening 1.0.4a. Yes I do have .net 4.0.

Because something in the thousand hours of work that went into bizhawk between 1.0.4a and 1.4.0 isn't playing quite right with your computer. Did you try the ideas mentioned in this thread about moving files around from the dll folder?

I get a System.TypeLoadException if I take a clean folder, unzip 1.0.4a into it, and then unzip 1.4.0 ontop if it. So yeah, don't do that.

I moved all files from dll folder to bizhawk folder itself.. now it's working.. why was it packed in wrong folder anyway? Thanks

its packed in the right folder. the problem here is with your computer which is unable to load dlls from the right folder. we havent figured out why some computers have this problem yet. can you dearchive it from scratch again and move the dlls one by one until you figure out which one (or several) it is that need to be in the bizhawk main directory? Also, could you try dearchiving it from scratch and running it with any security or antivirus disabled? Those could potentially be interfering with the dll loading process.

Files needed to be in main directory (drop one of them then I'll get error): BizHawk.Util.dll BizHawk.Emulation.dll LuaInterface.dll EMU7800.dll Newtonsoft.Json.dll Lua51.dll SlimDX.dll the rest in DLL folder not needed

I want to TAS SNES games, but it keeps crashing on me. I think it might be a little unstable for me.

Moving these files helped get it running for me, as well. However, I noticed a problem trying to load a .nes file. This was solved by moving one more file into the main directory: 7z.dll

I had the same problem. Install prereq and moving dll didn't help, so I just go ahead and compile the project and it worked. So if this build(SVN r4292) doesn't work, I guess you can compile it yourself with Visual Studio and see what happen, but I really don't see why the build would work for me and not for the other.

Same problem, on windows 7 64, bizhawk won't run with prereq and copying DLL. Ran no problem on same PC on windows 8, although I didn't think to try removing the dll from the base folder for this case.

This is also needed in the latest BizHawk version - 1.4.1 in case anyone has the same problem.
