Super Mario Bros. is a NES game that starts Mario's job of rescuing the princess.
Usually, the player goes through 8 worlds composed of 4 levels each, but this run uses the warp from 1-2 to 4-1, and the warp from 4-2 to 8-1.
I didn't abuse any programming errors, nor taking hits or dying. The only trouble I had was at 8-3, where I had to lose some frames to avoid fireworks.
Sorry for giving no info about the rom, it didn't come with the info and I don't know how to use GoodNES.

Noxxa: Claiming for judgment.
Noxxa: Hello inakilbss, and welcome to TASVideos. Unfortunately, your movie is not up to the standards of our site, as it loses several seconds compared to the published movies of this game. While your attempt is okay for a first TAS, it does not merit a publication on the site. Also, "glitchless" categories are only relevant when glitches make a major difference to the way the game is run, and in the case of this game, it is not. For these reasons, I'm rejecting this movie.
Better luck next time!

Glitchless categories are a bit pointless, especially when they don't add any extra entertainment value at all, like in this case. That said, the run itself isn't optimised at all anyway. A lot of errors and easy things that could have made it faster. No.

SMB really isn't entertaining without the glitches. Also, I think this movie has already been obsoleted. Very strong no vote.

It makes no sense at all to make a glitchless run of SMB to me. No vote.
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

You have to understand this is my 1st TAS EVER. So I chose glitchless category to make my life easier. Also, I completed it in (2?) hours because I don't know how to super-polish a TAS run. By the way, which were my big mistakes?

Sorry to rain on your parade, but even if it's your first TAS ever, if it's slower than the currently published run, you shouldn't put it on the workbench. Instead, post your TAS in the appropriate forum (Super Mario Bros. in the NES forum for this one) and ask for comments there. Submit a TAS only when it's optimized enough and it beats the current record.

In short, remember that a submitted TAS needs to beat all existing records in its category (or else be an entertainment-oriented superplay in which case time doesn't matter). If it doesn't, then it doesn't belong on the workbench. Sorry for the bad news. Welcome to TASVideos, and I do hope you stick around and polish those skills!

Well if we forget the, in my opinion, bad idea of that new tread for SMB, Nach is totally right. That movie was quicker and it was long ago. I'd rather vote 'no' on a Glitchless SMB run since that one is already obsoleted.

agree that next time you should propose the run in the appropriate forum or on IRC before submitting. i'd also recommend tapping said resources for general TASing guidance and support. no vote for the reasons stated above (i'm too cool to write something original), but please do try again. welcome to the site.
Oh, play it cool. Play it cool. Here come the space cops.

No, it’s you who has to understand that submitting your first TAS is not a good idea. Seriously, I would not like if someone’s first run was published from the first attempt, while I have been TASing for years and still didn’t make any submission considering my experience still far from perfect. It’s gonna be my first «No» vote. :)

As for the improvements: If you study the published run, you can spot many things. For example, at the start of every level, there is a jumping sequence you can do to quicker increase your speed. You don't go down pipes the earliest frame possible. In the pipe underground in 1-1, you bump into the pipe before going into it. It's faster to land on the top of the flagpole rather at the bottom. Even if you are new to TASing, when you submit something it has to be quality material. You can always post your run at the forum or in IRC for feedback before you submit it. We will gladly help out to make your run as good as possible. Good luck on future projects!

You're voting yes to a movie which has already been obsoleted by another movie in the exact same category?

The poll says: "Did you find this movie entertaining?" Not, "Should this be published?" I miss the old system. :(

Should be published in the Dumpster tier where we place ridiculously bad movies that even the Vault wouldn't take.

Not every TAS has to be a submission to tasvideos when complete. The purpose of tasvideos is to hold records for beating games that beat all known existing records and cannot easily be improved. If you are new to TASing, make TASes with the purpose of becoming better at TASing or figuring out how a game works, not to submit yet. And you can always ask for feedback by posting your TAS in the topic for that game instead of submitting it - submitting it is equivalent to claiming 'My TAS cannot easily be improved by anyone' which, if you are not sure, should not be done.

Is this really necessary? Okay, the guy made a mistake by submitting an unoptimized TAS. That's no cause to just dump on him.

Agreed. This kind of situation arises from confusion, not from malice, and it's simplest to just correct the misunderstanding with correct information.

Like Mine... Crash Bandicoot XS (Reject and Canceled (Submitted 2) - Look back on it now and I questioned why I used European version) 1st tas I made that was rejected Emperor's New Groove, Rejected in favor of RachelB one. Point Blank DS (I created this one for Vault due to the other tas being to painful to the ear, Canceled) Moved onto Bishi Bashsi Special "Max Score" - accepted Obsoleted - mz's Salaryman Created another Bishi Bashi - which became my first vault. Create something unique, try and obsolete someone (if someone obsoletes HappyLee's Mario tas I'll be in shock) v Now I'm doing something that will take a long time to do... and a pc (GameMaker) game.
