Hi! We knew TAS borned over 10 years ago, but I see TAS still have too little TASer and records. I think if TAS want more new pepole come then TAS must change or upgrade something. Maybe all you here have love classical, but that's limited new pepole want come to TAS Here's my some ideas for TAS, hope it can make TAS have more pepole and more funny: 1/ Make social networking for TAS, facebook and google+ . Alway update info when have new record 2/ Make a little tool can track/view/chat/etc all about TAS 3/ Try earn money from Youtube or make donate for fund. If have fund then can make good award for good records, then its TASer will happy more than 4/ Make a new tier for newbie, maybe Novice Tier. There's free for all want make records, will not focus on optimizing My english isn't good, I can't say all I want :( p/s: please focus TASEditor on all Emulators, it's so powerfull, I love it >.<

I'm out of it today, but I hope this post helps some: 1) I'm not aware of a Facebook or Google+ profile for TASVideos, but there is an official YouTube channel that uploads encodes of all the records on the site (that each have their own comment sections), and RSS feeds for submissions as well as publications. I'm not sure if you were aware of these, but they provide a good announcement system for new runs already. 2) The IRC channel at #tasvideos is where people talk about TASes all the time. Also, like the RSS feeds, new submissions and publications are announced there. Regarding watching runs, links to WIPs and movie files can be posted in the chat too. 3) One of the main problems with paying people to TAS (from what I understand) is that usually only the TASer knows how optimized it is. A monetary reward for finishing a run will result in the runner doing low quality work or even hiding lots of possible optimizations within a run just to get the money quickly. 4) While that seems like a good idea at first, it doesn't fit the goal of the site to provide record times of runs that have been at least mostly optimized. If you want to make an unoptimized run, you can always upload it to YouTube. Otherwise, if you want to make the effort to optimize it, you can do so and then submit the result to the site.

I don't agree get paid for encodes, because first there is copyright of games + if they want money they could make tas which optimize every time 1 frame so more videos = max profit
Current: Rayman 3 maybe? idk xD Paused: N64 Rayman 2 (with Funnyhair) GBA SMA 4 : E Reader (With TehSeven) TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand

About copyright I don't have ideas. But with awards, just give to good records, example year awards.

Having an embedded chat for the tasvideos IRC is not a bad idea.

There is a Facebook page, and it used to announce submissions and acceptances, but it hasn't been updated since October 2012. I'm not sure if announcing every submission is the right role for that page even if it does come back - maybe less frequent announcements of major runs and other site news might be more appropriate - but either way it would be nice if it came back. Having a web IRC client link on the homepage would be great. Tons of sites do it very successfully, and it lowers the barrier to entry a lot. That said, perhaps it should default to, say, #tasvideos-homepage or something; a huge flood of uninformed users might not be what the #tasvideos community is looking for :) One thing that might get TASVideos some more awareness and respect would be TASers contributing their knowledge the new SDA knowledgebase/wiki, and noting which strats are TAS only, perhaps with links to gifs/timestamps in official encodes. Even if you are not a TASer, moving our GameResources content over there and cleaning it up could be useful. I'm not actually sure what their policies are on TAS-only content. There seems to be limited (but not zero) inclusion at the moment. We definitely don't want to be seen as invaders, but I think everyone in both communities is pretty aware by now that we are not enemies, and that shared knowledge has improved TASes and RTAs alike, so I would hope we can find a home there. If it eventually completely replaces our GameResources pages, I for one would see that as a massive improvement.
