I've got much progress in Sonic's Story TAS, and more and more improvements!

Red Mountain: 0:40.31 (-2.50)
Sky Deck: 0:44.81 (-4.14)
Only 2 stages left! It should be done soon! ^_^

Okay, so now I'm doing Tails' Story. I just completed Sand Hill, so it's more than half done! I've done a video showing two strats of Sand Hill, check it here.
Great progress! One question: Since the gates provide significant speed boosts, is it worth it to miss so many of them?
Those are boost pads, not the gates that are providing the speed increases.
It seems like that from THC98's WIP alone, because he doesn't go through any gates until he is already at a high speed (as you say, from boost pads). Gates don't provide a big speed boost anyway, which may be why THC98 doesn't seem to care about them as much. However, they do provide a boost, which you can see more clearly in this speedrun (Sand Hill starts at 13:34).
