I haven't played the game since my last update. I haven't lost interest, I honestly just don't have the time. I may have a small update posted on Thursday or perhaps before the end of the week. Sorry :O/

I have harassed ^_^ a bit Jecy to try to improve Michael's run when its finished. Jecy is certainly a wise and solid Super Metroid player. At least for my own part, he was the first player who showed me all those sweet tricks in his run.
That's a very interesting glitch... I've seen one pretty close to it, but I heard that it was an emulator-only glitch, like the emulator handles overflow conditions differently.
Anyway, it requires the Spaz-Plas glitch (equip both Spazar and Plasma at the same time, but unequip Wave or it'll cause instant crash. Look it up on GameFAQs, I guess). Once you have that, then go to the ship and go to the door on your left, the first door on Brinstar you have to open. Open the door, then charge the beam, look to your right, and fire. The game should be all wierd and laggy, but Samus should still be able to move. Once you enter the door, then it should look like Zebes is blowing up. Exit through the same door, go to the ship, and get into it, and it'll do the whole ending thing.
Strange, but it's worked for me on ZSNES. Can someone figure it out?
Hi,
Wow, what an awesome run, can't wait to see rest of it.
What is the current best time for an 100% run anyways? I've done a 0:45:08 run at 100%, but it guess it's embarassingly slow and dull compared to this one. It's for ZSNES and can be downloaded here: http://www.gallantcrow.de/stuff/SuperMetroid_0-45-08_GallantCrow.zip Hmm... I guess MF's run will be finished at 0:40:xx maybe? I'm really impressed with what you've done so far. Very good job!!!
Hi, Gallant Crow
I'm really glad to see your run. This is a word that I wants to say most. I'll watch it today since it's my favorite game. I wish you will keep going with the passion for the game. :)

Now, I dont need to release my file.

I'm amazed at how the time is flying by. Recently got engaged and I'm just not gaming anymore. Sorry for the total lack of updates guys. Will do my best to find some free time.

Congratulations on your engagement, but now that you are soon to be married, you should focus on that then less important things like speedrunning :)
Damnit somebody call Terima or Jecy.
Dang, Gallant!! 45:08 for 100% is insane!!
I'm trying to find the ZSNES version you listed in that text file, or anything that doesn't crash and plays movies, so I haven't seen the movie yet.
Is that actual movie time, or "game time?" (i.e. game time doesn't include many parts and tends to be lower) If it's movie time it has to translate to 40 minutes or less of game time...just insane, as I thought the limit for 100% had to be close to 50 minutes game time based on Red Scarlet's runs. The only way I could possibly see someone break 50 minutes for 100% is the Tourian-skipping glitch mentioned near the end of the "Super Metroid in 3 minutes" thread.

The 0:45:08 is game time. And Jecy did 0:47:04 a year ago I think. And still, my run looks really slow compared to what MF did so far, since it lacks stuff like Short Charge, Blue Suit, this aim-up-and-down acceleration thingie and so on, and I never took the time to check and optimize the frames I did in each room. So it's not as spectacular as you might imagine. I believe a 0:41 or 0:42 time is very possible.
I've tried it out a bit now that you mentioned it...it would be interesting to skip Tourian and possibly have a sub-13% completion (don't know about the latter, as I haven't memorized the game structure forwards and backwards.)
As for how it works from a coding standpoint, I suspect it might be related to how the Hyper Beam effectively flags all the other lasers, and since that corridor is part of the escape sequence, the laser flags go with the escape.
Interestingly, the glitch only seems to work in the Japan/USA version, not the Europe version. The PAL version did come out 4 months after the NTSC version ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/data/588741.html ) so they probably worked out a few kinks in the meantime. There are other glitches that accumulate if you do that, however.

I highly advise against playing music during the game. It will ruin the whole video, I agree with whom said it first.
I love the in-game music, they've even revamped some of the music for later games in the series (Metroid Prime(Magmoor Cavern) and Metroid Prime 2(I forget where..) specifically.) and the revamped music is pretty cool.
People can just speed passed the waiting with whatever movie player they're using also, so there's really no need to edit it all out.

Perhaps you didn't read the whole thread. But this is a non issue.

Sorry to excite everyone by bumping the topic, but I was wondering if Michael has worked any more on this run.
And when I say that, I really mean "I hope he's made huge amounts of progress and just isn't telling us because this was the most impressive WIP I've seen on the forums"

No need to be sorry :D But I think it is safe to say that Michael is not going to end his run, because of pretty damn good reason, his upcoming marriage :)
Or both, maybe. Teamwork made the awesome (short) Super Mario World run.
I looked at MF's first post, and he has a list of glitches he was planning on using. The only one he hasn't described or done yet is "Platform yank". So hopefully if he's cool with someone continuing his WIP, he can also let us know what that trick is. Unless it is already known - in that case, I, the idiot, should be ignored.
