If you want to see the .m64 file here it is. I've tried encoding AVIs before yet to no avail. They always turn out with gargantuan file sizes despite my attempts to compress it and even then i can't get them to play. Until i figure out how to do it properly (and apparently it's really difficult) this is the best i can do, which is a shame i admit.
Just download XviD and use it as your codec.

I am afraid the download doesn't work. Keeps telling me it's a Invalid Download Link.

You have to encode it twice anyway if you want the sound not to be PCM which is uncompressed and huge.

The link works for me, anyway it is the wrong file, the original disappeared but i managed to get it back using the program recommended by Nitsuja. Here is the current .m64 file. This should work.

good to see progress =) sadly I can't really judge it though since it's bad quality (tube'd?) I don't think I had that kung fu theater remote since I don't remember such a long path :p when's the projected completion time of this TAS?

im reckoning at the moment i have 18 more remotes to get. Now i have 15 at 22 minutes. I would really like to pull a sub one hour run but as the levels get more complex this might be difficult. My testing suggested about 01:10:00 but i am making gigantic improvements so this may be possible. I hope i do get sub one hour as that would be a phenomenal time for this game.

I swear I posted this before: I actually meant what time (day) you think you might finish this project. would be nice to see sub 1 hour tho

I really don't know. I feel i shouldn't rush myself, although if i can keep a good momentum a couple of weeks. I am about half-way and i only started my final run two weeks ago so progress is good.

I never expected to do this this quickly but everything has sort of been going my way the last two days. This is WIP number 5; what i've done here has been done so much faster than i anticipated. I've managed to get 21 out of 33 remotes before the half-hour mark. This makes for an extremely high quality run in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfjexzQ5TtU

Watched about a third of this, and sometimes you use ZA and jump from just a little too bit close to the wall, leading to a pause as you're hugged close against the wall before you jump over it. Besides that it looks really nice. Oh, and Geckos in Tuxedos = mega cute

If you and i are thinking of the same thing...allow me to explain. When i use a karate kick to get over a wall the jump must be timed so that the ledge is caught at the top of the jump so Gex is pulled up. This causes a pause while the game decides whether Gex is still in the air or not. The only other way aound this is to jump normally over the wall which is slower. Or you may be reffering to the instant double jump trick (which i discovered). I was going to wait until my submissions text to explain this but i may aswell do so now. Gex has two jumps; a single jump, and a double jump (where he bounces off his tail to jump higher than normal). The double jump is activated by jumping once and then holding A in midair so that Gex double jumps upon landing. Many ledges and shortcuts can only be reached by double jump. Now having to jump normally and then having to jump once more to double jump wastes a lot of time, thankfully i discovered that while karate kicking i can hug close to the wall and when i get too close the karate kick sequence is broken. Gex then pauses in midair before falling slowly to the ground, this tricks the game into thinking he has already jumped and i can then instantly activate a double jump saving a good few seconds. Hopefully that is what you were reffering to. If not just say so and i'll see what i can do. Thanks for the feedback :)

I think both apply to the instances that I noted. Good explanations.

Just finished the run with a time of 00:49:55. Very pleased with the result as it is over 10 minutes faster than my target and 25 minutes faster than what i thought in the beginning. I should submit some time today.

Very nice. I watched the first 82% and liked it, so of course you'll be getting a yes vote from me. Makes me wish I had made a savestate so I can see the end. I particularly liked how well this game was played, it was quite fast and while the sound of bouncing gets a teensy bit irritating it's still very fast paced, Mario-esque bouncing around and definetly cute with the many suits. And of course, another N64 submission, of which we need more of.

They are my initials. I chose not to use my full name because of the scale of this site and the amount of people that would see it if i were to make a bad submission/ass of myself. I was right in that decision to be honest as i did make bad submissions and an ass of myself in my earlier days (i've come a long way in 3 months). I will probably only use my full name in the submission of a very high profile run eg. if i follow through my MM plans.

I'm necrobumping this thread because this game deserves a new TAS. There are many new tricks found and the route has changed. The RTA record is currently 58:45 by exe, but sub 58 is definitely possible. In a TAS, the new stuff could potentially save 4-5 minutes. Here are the major differences of the RTA route compared to the one the TAS uses: - 1 additional remote in Mao Tse Tongue - 1 remote less in Honey I Shrunk the Gecko - 1 additional remote in Pain in the Asteroids - Skips Rezopolis For information about the new tricks, check this thread at SDA: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/3d_gex_games.html Regarding the emulation, this game seems to work fine in Bizhawk. The bugs I found are only graphical (and are the same ones you had in Mupen). The best plugin is Glide64 (Glide64mk2 doesn't work at all).

I found a new technique to skip remote animations. This is what I was able to do with it so far: Link to video Link to video As you lose a life each time you do this, it would need to be timed where it can be done the fastest. The tricks in the second video are 100% only, but in that category you do get extra lives. EDIT: More stuff! Link to video Link to video
