Even better than Klax would be a disgusting, luck-manipulated, hyperspeed run of Blockout on the hardest difficulty; the most screwed up 3D pieces you could ever imagine.
The luck manipulation factor alone would be horrendous to get pieces that would even remotely fit together on that difficulty level, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but it would be funny to watch. No human brain can contemplate 3D manipulation like that game required on those levels...
Even if your IQ was like 300. :)

On second thought, I may give it a try today and see how the piece randomness can be manipulated.
The controls for flipping those pieces on Blockout is extremely twisted. It always tied my brainstem into knots.
Will do if I manage to get anywhere with it. Hopefully the piece order is not very static and can be finagled a bit to get a better order.
It would be mind-bending to say the least, especially with the largest well size. I doubt that any normal amount of play on high difficulty has ever produced the 3D equivalent of a "tetris" clearing maneuver. :)
I have plans for Ecco, yeah. I don't know if I'm part of the faster people crowd, though. The main problem is that I'm not likely to get anything done in the next two months.
You go ahead and take a stab at it and I'll be cheering from the sideline.
I gave BlockOut a try last night and WOW are those controls horrible. They are pretty cocked up thats for sure, I didn't remember them being that bad, but it was true. Its very difficult to control the pieces and flip things even with slow speeds and frame advance. The movements are not really registered in a very consistent manner.
I'd really appreciate someone attempting a little bit of clearing on the "!" level (10) and see what you can do. :) Maybe I'm not doing it right...
Additionally, each piece was always the same order from the savestate, even with pausing or timing drops and movements differently, so I think the randomness of the pieces at least for some set number of them is very static between runs. Kind of like Dr. Mario is...
Well.. Knowing that some pieces are static it should make the run easier I think. Since you can just write them down and plan a better, more complex and advance run.

Damn, I found three more games that would be nice to see timed:
1) The Chaos Engine
2) Cannon Fodder
3) Warsong
Eh, I'm not sure about Warsong afterall.
Warsong battle outcomes can be changed by doing different things or waiting before you enter them. Like you, I'm not sure if it's a good idea. How about making one level and see how it turns out?
Cannon fodder could be fun.

The problem with Warsong is that many scenarios seem to have lots of enemy units and they move pretty slowly even with the highest game speed. A good example is the first scenario where more than 90% of the game time is computer units moving. Even optimal movie would be very boring to watch. Well, actually all I know about the game is from Gamefaqs. I only completed 2 first scenarios a couple of months ago after which I found Battle for Wesnoth and forgot Warsong. So, maybe the later scenarios in Warsong are more interesting than the first two. I don't know.
wonder boy 5 ftw. rough guess is that it would take around.... hm... 1 - 2 hours give or take? its a longish game but im sure that wouldn't stop anyone doing it since the longer games are getting run now. (if secret of evermore can be done in 2 hours this sure as hell can).
oh and why has no one tried earthworm jim 2 for a run?
I'd like to see a speedrun of Genesis Bubble Bobble, that game rocks. It's the closest version to being arcade perfect, so it would definitely be the version to be done.

Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday. This game is quite funny.
I'm not sure what the movie might look like, but it would probably be among the shortest RPG movies on the site. Gamefaqs has a walkthrough of it: http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/buck_rogers_countdown_to_doomsday.txt
It seems that 9/18 of the missions are optional.
Moving is easy because the team moves on squares.
Just manipulate good character statistics, check the route and avoid battles.
Recording should be easy.
That didn't stop the first Earthworm Jim movie from being made with the boring Andy Asteroids level between every level.
I, for one, would be interested in seeing an EWJ2 run, although I think the SNES version should be done.
