It's interesting how the "hive mind" works. Everybody was saying that getting Eevee is a bad idea. They go it anyway. Now they are spending countless hours trying to get rid of it... (with too many people sabotaging the plan.)
To add to that, I have followed their progress on-and-off, and I noticed a remarkable deterioration in objective unity after getting the fourth gym badge from Celadon Gym and cutting the trees to escape the gym. Things like getting the Eevee, getting items from the department store, entering Saffron (from either the west or east) vs. going to Lavender, doing the Pokemon Tower in Lavender right away (which they can't even do now since they threw away all their Pokedolls), daycare (which is "guarded" by a dreaded ledge) vs. PC (which may accidentally result in release of Pokemon), etc. "Hive mind" in name only. I mean, it took them hours to get into Celadon Gym, win, and leave, but at least everyone aimed for that objective, and part of the fun was where everyone was mashing buttons trying to get the right inputs to cut trees down. This new plot in comparison seems so directionless. I wish they had been stuck for 10 hours in the "tree garden" in Celadon Gym after beating Erika to drive the tree-cutting ridiculousness home. It would have been funnier that way. Current viewership has dropped to less than 35K, down from about 55K at the time they got the fourth gym badge from Celadon Gym. Edit: Judging from comments on the chat, they just released two Pokemon by accident. This is going to be awesome.

Scratch what I said in my last post. I actually do find this kind of interesting and I checked progress every once in a while. But right now they indeed seem directionless.. I don't even know what's the current goal.. I still believe they are going to finish the game if given enough time (2 weeks?) EDIT: What do the greyed out lines on the stream mean?

Greyed out lines mean that button press was ignored rather than sent to the emulator. It made the start button pressed less often so that there would be less stalling, but then the ledge happened. After that, start button became unrestricted and it was used to remove random chunks of inputs from the act of walking to get past the ledge.

Apparently there is now a significant portion of participants who are outright trying to sabotage the project. They basically cannot go to a pokecenter to heal (and so that they will appear in that center if they faint) because whenever they go there, the vandals will do their hardest to go to the PC to release all the pokemon. Whenever they enter the pokecenter, the fighting immediately ensues...

The problem with the internet, is that there are people on the internet.

This is mostly giving me the idea that applying random input to pokémon will, eventually, beat the game. It's fun to watch though.

Ironically, at this moment it would be a good idea to go to the PC (Dig Rat is messing up progress) but most people are too afraid of going there because of Abby and Jay Leno...

The Rattata was originally placed there by mod.

They just changed the way inputs are registered. Now it's a poll where only the leading input is registered. Should be easier to coordinate, but the delay makes the wrong moves win the vote most of the time. And with the added delay in action, I can see this change being reversed or people will begin to lose interest.

Notice how commands such as 'leftleft' get included in the vote? That's right - you can vote to do MULTIPLE input at once! Once the collective realizes this, it won't feel nearly as slow paced. Still have to content with 20-40 second twitch delay -> think a variable amount of votes into the future, though.

And it's already killed. Probably reversing it. Or patching up that exploit you suggested.

They should have left it the way it was for a while longer.. Is the streamer in a hurry to have the playthrough finished?

Wow! Chat rebelled against the voting system by spamming 'start9' and refusing to do anything else. Interesting.

It is staggering to see that majority prefers this chaos where a hours upon hours of hard work can be undone by a single troll in a second, over true democracy.

I doubt it's the majority. It's more than likely just a few hundred people at a time trying to sabotage the game. With the voting system, though, those few trouble makers had the easy advantage. And the hindmind took care of the rest. Here's the naughty list: http://75.101.189.40/tpp.html Still a very interesting experiment. Luckily the input register has been reversed, as I suspected.

And now back to the old system. Mob rule wins again. This is turning into a comedy show. I guess somewhere in the past 24 hours is when most sensible people realized that this project had outdone itself. The largest number of viewers at one time was once close to 80K; enjoy it while it lasts, since it's not going back there anymore.

I think "dig rat" is the major problem. Countless hours could go completely to waste with a simple random 'dig' command. The problem is that the majority of people are too afraid to deposit it. The only way to make the game progress would be if the admin were to remove the rat from the party. Or disable the start button for the duration of the maze.
